Good morning! I just wanted to know if anyone who's chosen North Mid for pregnancy/birth or anyone who works at North Mid knows if partners are allowed for the 20 week scan?

It's our first baby after many years of ttc and a MC (6 weeks 4 days), so it was pretty upsetting for hubby not being able to see his baby at the first scan appointment 😔 whilst I do respect the covid rules and the risks... it still would've been nice to share the excitement that I felt at the appointment with hubby.

Thanks for reading x

Hi OP,

Are you referring to North Mid in Edmonton?
If so, I’m there too, waiting for my 20 week scan, but hubby was not allowed in for week 12 :(

Let me know how you get on! Xx

Hiya thanks for the reply!

Yes it's the one @ Edmonton. It's really hard to get hold of maternity department over the phone so I just wanted to know if partners will be allowed?

According to their website you can have 1 visitor with you to the 20 week scan. However I'm not too sure if this is updated 😭

It would be amazing for my husband to see baby as it's not affordable to go for private scan at the moment

How are you finding pregnancy so far? Xx

Yep! Calling them on the phone is a defo no no Angry
But once you’re there, they are very nice, so can’t complain much Grin

I’ve got my 16th week appointment in Enfield, so I will ask if my hubby can attend my 20 week scan.
Fingers crossed he can!!

I’m 15 weeks today, it’s been weird, yesterday boobs were hurting, and was sick after a long while, but today I feel nothing??

So weird.

How about you? Xx

Haha yes, but i couldn't agree more, I love the service and the layout of the unit. Everyone's been so helpful and I deffo feel at ease especially with hubby not being with me.

I'm usually a nervous wreck when attending hospital appointments but so far the experience has calmed my nerves 🙃

Usually symptoms subside after 12 weeks, vomiting nausea and tiredness for me has deffo gone after week 10, sore boobs don't feel as sensitive to me either.

I think the best thing would be to contact midwife or maternity direct line, they'd be able to assess you better in terms of your symptoms. And it'll give you a peace of mind too!

I have my 16 week appointment over the phone with my midwife (had my first consultation over the phone too) although I wouldn't have minded a face to face but I guess each hospital are varied.

Currently 12+5 weeks still feels surreal haha 😆

Please do check the link if you scroll down to where it says 'Having a baby at North Mid' it'll say one visitor allowed for 20 week scan xx

Hi OP!

Thanks for sharing the link, I will ask again at my 16 week appointment about hubby coming along.

I have an appointment with the midwife somewhere in Enfield, I’m surprised yours was over the phone!
