Terrible migraines and headaches

Has anyone else been suffering with awful migraines and headaches? I'm 26 weeks and I've had either a vision obliterating migraine or an extremely painful headache every day this week. They're really taking it out of me. I haven't had migraines since I was at school!

Does anyone have any advice for triggers to look out for? I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to avoid them. I've decided to take the rest of the week off work, try and get away from screens and rest up a bit - anything else I should be trying?

TIA x

Change in hormones in pregnancy can trigger them. I suffer from migraines in my 1& 3 they were awful but with Ds2 they stopped for the whole pregnancy!
Speak to the midwife or gp they may be able to offer some help there are medications that are safe in pregnancy

Keep a diary of everything you eat and see if there are patterns on days you have migraines. I found cheese is a trigger for me 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

I’m guessing you are having a girl. Grin

I had to spend lots of time in a cold, dark room and take codeine for my migraines but they did ease in the third trimester. I hope you can find a solution that works.

I had really bad headaches around my 16 week appointment and I’m sure I remember my midwife saying this wasn’t an issue before 20 weeks but could be a concern afterwards so I’d let your midwife know

@SunbathingDragon haha yes I am! The midwife said girls can be worse for hormones!

@HeeeeyDuggee oh not cheese! I've been having a real hankering for it and have been eating a fair bit ... But didn't have any today and didn't get a migraine so dammit maybe it's cheese!

Thanks @Sls668 - I happened to have an appointment in the midst of one and they were really kind and I felt listened to and checked over and everything, but she said there wasn't much to be done :(

All three of my daughters have me awful headaches and migraines. My son didn’t. So I’m in full agreement with your midwife.
