What are peoples experiences with using Gaviscon in their pregnancy? I've been needing to use it every night for the past week does this ever go away or am I stuck with it? Also is it safe to be using throughout my pregnancy Smile

Heartburn will only get worse.
I ended up getting a big bottle of Gaviscon advance from my GP which I take alongside Rennie’s.

I drank it straight from the bottle for all three pregnancies. I expect to do the same this pregnancy.

I’m 37 weeks pregnant and found gaviscon couldn’t even help me last night! Ended up having a glass of milk around 1am and that did the trick.

I actually found the chewable chalk type gaviscon tablets more effective than the liquid so I think I’ll need to go back to those for these last couple of weeks!

I'm finding gaviscon double action is much less unpleasant and easier to swallow. I've also been prescribed omeprazole by my GP as my heartburn was interfering with my sleep so much. Just can't take them within 2 hrs of each other

I’m 35 weeks with my 2nd its only getting worse, but if it helps my heartburn went away straight away I delivered my first. So your hopefully not stuck with it forever, just for the rest of the pregnancy. Also I’ve had no issues with taking it, I believe it’s pretty safe.

Heartburn was so terrible with DS1 I was getting through a large bottle of gaviscon every 2-3 days.

I went to the Dr and got prescribed omeprazole and it was an absolute game changer- no heartburn for the rest of the pregnancy.

This time round I didn't even blink, got it prescribed at about 4 months and haven't needed any rennies/ gaviscon at all.

I can't recommend it enough.

Gaviscon wasn’t touching the sides for me so I’m now on omeprazole! An absolute blessing
