When to tell boss

Hi, New mum to be. I'm around 5-6 weeks but I'm not sure when to tell my boss? My sister says after first scan?

Just wondered when everyone else told theirs?

I told immediately after the 12 week scan. I’d have waited but we were about to kick off a year long project which I was due to lead, and I felt it was inappropriate to start the meeting without flagging to him that I’d only be around to carry out half of it! I framed it in quite a positive way though - as a ‘so this is why I will carry out phase 1 brilliantly, so that a maternity cover can start phase 2 with no issues’.

When you want - but you have to tell them by 25 weeks to qualify for maternity pay. I told mine at 13 and 17/18 weeks. I personally felt I was treated differently so kept it to myself. If you need understanding for medical appointments etc tell them when you want :) congrats!
