Cancelled scan - down to Covid?

I've been high risk since booking in, I'm at 28 weeks now and was expecting a scan, consultant appointment and midwife appointment this week (as requested by my consultant at my 20 week appointment). I just called the hospital and they said 'because of covid' they have cancelled all 28 week scans. Has anyone else heard this? I feel so stressed as not only do I have Ashermans Syndrome, I also have a sizeable hematoma and at my last scan had full previa... I've been really relaxed as I've been in hospital loads with bleeding, but for the past few weeks I haven't had any check ups etc and now I just feel a bit anxious. I feel like covid is just an excuse - why is it negatively affecting midwifery care?! Am I missing something? I feel a bit scared, I know its probably down to hormones... but I really feel that I need to chat to a midwife. Can I insist on this? :(

Sadly I don’t think it’s negatively effecting midwifery care any more than any other are of care.

I would phone your consultants secretary and explain the situation and ask for your consultant to sort the issue and explain to them why it’s needed

I was also told at booking that I’d have growth scans at 28/32/36/40 weeks. My 28 week scan was cancelled as they weren’t doing them due to covid. I’m supposed to be consultant led but was told I wouldn’t see a consultant unless anything flagged up at my routine midwife appointments 🙄 and then to top it off my midwife went off sick and never arranged any cover for my care 🙈 first face to face midwife appointment my whole pregnancy was at 28 weeks (at my local gp surgery so no scan etc, lasted 10 minutes). Meant to to have a midwife appt at 33 weeks - she didn’t turn up and went MIA and it took me phoning everyday until 35.5 weeks to get booked in with another midwife and reorganise my own care 🙄

Oh my goodness - so sorry to hear of your experience @RWK29 I hope you're ok!!
Thanks @Sirzy - I called and they admitted it was an error, I've been booked in for a scan with the Fetal Medicine specialist - apparently they're cancelling all growth scans but mine isn't actually a growth scan so its just admin gone wrong.
She said 'it's lucky that you called'. I won't be scared to call or to challenge in the future!

Glad you have managed to get it sorted. Sadly at the moment even more so that normal it does seem to be about who shouts loudest to make sure they aren’t allowed to slip through the net
