Cat litter

I’ve read about avoiding changing cat litter when pregnant. I’m only 6 weeks but have 2 cats who have now started to go outside, but do still use their litter tray so needs emptied every couple of days as a minimum. I live alone so not sure how I should handle changing the litter? I’ve been using gloves and washing my hands after, but I’m just so paranoid especially as things get further along! Is it serious enough to warrant asking baby daddy to come over and change it for me hahah?!

Use gloves and washing hands will be fine. If you’ve had cats a while you’re likely to have already had the bug that they carry and have an immunity but always best to be cautious.

@Oneandabean ah thanks, that makes me feel a bit better! Had them for 4 years and they’ve been indoor til recently.

We’ve got a kitten after I found out I was pregnant, works out great as DP does the litter tray and I get all the cuddles 😂 I think as long as your careful you’ll be fine

I didn't even use gloves. Just washed my hands after

Have you got a cat flap? Why don’t your try taking the litter tray away? When my cat started going outside I just took the plunge and got rid of her litter tray and 6yrs later she has never been inside or had an accident- literally not once! Even if for whatever reason I’ve locked her in overnight she has been able to wait until morning to go outside for a wee and it’s hilarious to watch her dash outside when she’s dying for the loo but it’s pouring with rain bless her

Wearing gloves and washing hands is all you need to do Smile
