Just as the title asks really...

Just found out I have GD at 29 + 3, my sister had it as well, plus Pre Eclampsia so did end up with an induction!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi, I also just got diagnosed with GD today so watching this with interest because I’d like to see if anyone went into labour without any help

Dinosaurdrip · 13/10/2020 21:55

I had GD with my DD my consultant said he just wanted me to go into labour naturally and only induce if I was late, but I asked to be induced.
I asked because Dd was due on 23rd December and I didn’t want to naturally go into labour on Christmas Day and leave my 2DS at home.
Thankfully he agreed and induced me on 20th, although he really didn’t want to.

Delivery at 37-38 weeks is generally recommended due to the risk of placental failure/stillbirth. Worth considering if your reasons for perhaps wanting to avoid induction outweigh the risks.

I am diabetic and had DC1 induced at 38w. She was 9lbs, so glad she didn't have another 2-4 growing before delivery! I had DC2 induced at 36w due to early signs of placental failure. She was fine and didn't need special care.

For non gestational diabetes reasons I had to have a planned c section. I was 39+3. Before the section was planned they'd said they wouldn't want me to go overdue but were happy for me to go to full term. DD is nearly 2 so fairly recent.

I have GD and consultant has recommended I dont go beyond 40+6. Apparently previously it was 38wks but that has changed

I dont want an induction so if it goes past that point I'm having an elective c section

Hi All,

Thanks for the replies.

I cant say I'm against induction at all, whatever is recommended really.

I'm due on boxing day, so if anything, would rather avoid a spontaneous labour on Christmas day, but hey, nothing I can do about it.

If I end up with pre eclampsia as well I imagine I will definitely be induced!

I declined. Read Michel o Dent's work on gd. Eye opener.

I also went past 'due date' and had a HB.
