Tinnitus triggered by pregnancy

I’m just looking for any advice or shared experiences.

I’ve been suffering with blocked ears due to problems with my Eustachian tube for about 11 weeks now. My GP can see that the eardrum is very slightly pulled in and the ear canal is clear. I think it was probably caused by pregnancy rhinitis or hay fever back in the summer and has never fully cleared up.

However, in the last couple of weeks I’ve had a few days when the blocked feeling disappears, but is replaced by a dull low hum/roar that must be tinnitus. It’s driving me crazy as it’s constant for the whole day and very hard to ignore. It may then disappear while I sleep (although getting to sleep with the noise in my ear is hard) and I’ll wake with the blocked feeling back but no tinnitus.

My question is - could this just be a pregnancy thing and will clear after birth, or do I need to learn to live with this tinnitus? Anyone have any experience as the GP has not been particularly helpful so far?

I’ve had problems with my middle ear since January, my doc also said my ear drum was pinched. He said it would heal itself and 10 months later it’s still there. I’ve had a hum/buzzing the whole time and it’s got worse with being pregnant.

I totally feel your pain on this one.

aaaaah ive had the same thought altho feel glad currently eased up. had really bad tinnitus at times and going to bed is awful as it's all u can hear. Just sounded like a higher pitched version of the old internet dial up tone. Wondered if was pregnancy related as well as quite often get a ringing noise, which comes on loud and fades out over half a min. this is so diff and just kept on. definitely worse when my ears were bit blocked which i get a lot anyway, and always worse when getting a cold (always know when im going down with one!) or hayfever.
if your ears are blocked can u try either olive oil/those drops you can get to clear them in case helps the tinnitus? could u go to sleep with music on in case that kinda drowns out the tinnitus?
really hope u get sorted soon, it was driving me mad.x

Thanks for the replies. It’s good to know that I’m not alone with this strange symptom! I’m really hoping it settles down after pregnancy, but that feels like a long way off!

Hey ladies. I'm after some comforting advice if any of you can share. 🙏.
I'm 15 weeks pregnant and I took a mild sinus issue over a month ago , it was so mild I just felt a little bunged up . Over nite I took this ringing in my ear, which had caused me massive aniexty which can't be good for the baby 😭. Can any one else out there tell me if they had this symptom in Pregnancy, I asked my GP and he said it can be caused by the extra blood flow and possibly hormonal aswell. But I asked my midwife and she was saying she never heard of it. Now I'm even more nevous and upset.

Hi everyone. I’m 37 weeks pregnant and have had tinnitus since week 22; it’s horrendous. Did other peoples tinnitus go after pregnancy?
