28 week bump

Hey everyone.

I’m starting to get a bit paranoid... I am 28weeks pregnant with my first baby and everyone is telling me how big I am. Did any of you have a bigger bump than expected at this stage in your first pregnancy?

I’m 5”3 if that makes any difference. Just starting to get a little insecure... I also have 12 weeks to get a lot bigger.

Tell them to bollocks! Everyone is different, as long as there are no concerns from your midwife don't worry :)

The shorter and slimmer you are the more you show. My son was due mid February and mid December whilst Christmas shopping I kept having people say to me how lovely a Christmas baby! I gained three stone and it was all bump! I look at photos and wonder how I walked!

There's nothing like pregnancy to inspire uninvited personal comments from everyone around you! I've had some success at shutting these ones down by saying 'my bump measures spot-on according to the midwife'. And to be honest, even if the midwife does happen to measure you on the big side, it's none of their business and they don't need to know Grin

I remember being around that stage and some pompous arshole asked me if I was having twins. I was at work and I nearly jumped across the till and killed him Haha. I was 20 and quite slim at the time. But I did have a big bump. This time I've put on a lot more weight, I blame lock down! I'm not too worried, but people have been commenting on how big I am. How I look like I'm going to pop 🙄 MIL keeps saying I'm going to have a massive baby. And I'm like oh fantastic thank you 🤷🏼‍♀️
Anyone that has had children that makes comments like that clearly has forgotten what it's like. If you have a small frame bumps always look bigger imo. Dont stress about it, as long as you, baby and the midwife are happy that's all that matters.

People seem to think it's their right to comment on anything they like when you're pregnant, I don't understand it. I am 29 weeks and most people tell me how 'neat' I am (I'm quite tall at 5ft 9 and am still able to fit into most of my normal tops etc...trousers not so much!) however on Friday at work one of my colleagues turned round and said 'I hope you don't get much bigger'!!! I said 'well I am going to.....'! I thought it was so rude. Everybody's body is different!

jdy123 · 12/10/2020 22:10

Urgh this kind of thing reaaalllly pissed me off when I was pregnant! "You sure it's not twins". Telling me every week, "god you're bigger than last week"...well that's kinda how it works lol.
Just try and take no notice! Everyone's bumps are different shapes and sizes and look different too depending on your size and shape before pregnant.

MnM156 · 12/10/2020 23:36

I am almost 29 weeks and I have been told my bump is very small. I am very worried as well. Even though I had a scan a week ago and the midwife and fetal medicine doctor didn't mention any issue with growth nor did they comment on my bump size. So I am assuming I am ok but people's comments really freak me out.

CoalCraft · 13/10/2020 06:38

I'm having the opposite problem - people keep telling me I'm small or even that I don't look pregnant - I'm 27+5 and to my eyes I'm massive!

Just ignore them. Everyone is different and the only people whose opinion on the subject matters is medical professionals. If they're happy, you can be happy 💗

Pumpertrumper · 13/10/2020 07:36

Happens both ways OP
I’m 5’9 and slim. I constantly got comments about how ‘neat’ and ‘small’ my bump was. The day I delivered DS I’d only gained about 10 inches on my waist. In a regular jumper it looked like I was maybe 4-5 months. In a fitted tee maybe 6 months

Busy bodies definitely implied I wasn’t giving DS enough. I used to get told to eat more and what I should be eating (greasy fatty food). I had HG so their advice went down badly. Envy

Same here OP, I'm just under 5'2" and was a size 8 previously - at 21 weeks I already feel huge! I 100% will be getting those "Christmas baby" comments in December, though I'm not due until Feb. It's annoying but trying my best to just ignore people.
