Worried about 20 week scan

I'm pregnant with my 3rd child and up until a few days ago I was feeling excited. I read an article about a woman attending her 20 week scan and the baby had serious abnormalities and she had to have a termination a few weeks later. I can't stop worrying now and dreading the scan which is at the end of this week. What are the chances of anything being wrong? In my other pregnancies I didn't even think that anything could be wrong and thankfully everything was perfect with them both.

Hello OP, I was in the same position as you before my 20 weeks scan. So many scenarios playing up in my head, and instead of stopping reading these horror stories, I continued... Not clever. I was nervous, but thankfully everything was fine!!!! Most pregnancies are fine, so please stop worrying and enjoy being pregnant (minus the morning sickness, fatigue, occasional cramp, weird cravings....)

I’ve got my 20 week scan coming up in a few weeks, and am a bit nervous about it too.

It is scary to think about things that could go wrong, but it’s most likely that everything will be fine.

Think about if you were replying to someone else in the same situation - you’d be able to tell them that you’ve had two pregnancies with no problems, which would be really reassuring for them.

It is rare for anything to come up at the 20 week scan and even rarer now that more checks get done through bloods etc!

Thanks for your replies ladies! My scan is tomorrow and I'm still really nervous but also trying to be excited. I've read its rare for anything to be picked up and also the conditions are rare that they are looking for so hopefully all will be ok

I'm feeling the same. 20 week scan next week. I've had a very easy pregnancy so far. 12 week scan showed no issues. Low screening results. But I'm now worrying. I've felt no flutters. Have no bump and just assume something is wrong. Starting to think the odd cup of coffee or sip of wine has done something.
