Perfect Prep question!

Hi everyone.

I wonder if you can help. I’m pregnant with my first baby and trying to be organised.

My intention is to breast feed as well as express. Everyone keeps telling me how handy the Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep machine is. I was just wondering, does anyone know if you can use this to heat expressed breast milk too?

Hi, the perfect prep machine is for making up formula feeds only. You won't need it if you breastfeed/express :)

I don't think so, doesn't the perfect prep machine add hot water to the formula powder in a bottle?

You could use a bottle warmer or just run the bottle of breast milk under a warm tap to warm up

Hi OP. The perfect prep is used to make up formula bottles, not to heat up bottles of prepared formula or breast milk. There are lots of bottle warmers available though.

No, you put water in it, then put powder in the bottle and it puts a shot of hot water into the bottle and then cold water to top it up. Def nothing to do with breast milk.

If you're existing and chilling the milk, just buy a jug big enough to for your bottle in. Hot water in cup, heats up the bottle. Shake bottle.

However if you end up combi feeding, it’s still worth it. We paid a fortune out on ready made formula cartons for random top ups, but in the end it was much cheaper and easier to invest in the Perfecf Prep, even when not feeding formula full time.

The perfect preps aren,t recommended their are concerns regarding cleanliness and also concearn that it is not hot enough for long enough to kill bacteria in the powder. However many parents have used them succesfully. But then my sister was fed carnation milk for a while and I wouldn,t recommend that either. (it was the 70,s and apprantly a shortage of formula for a while.)

You don’t need to heat expressed milk. You store it in sterile containers/bottles, and it’s already sterile from the boob.

Lots of people swear by the perfect prep, but if you want to breastfeed it’s not needed. I haven’t got one and am not planning on getting one! Will get a couple of bottles and containers for expressed milk if needed after a couple of months.

No you cannot heat express milk with this product.

You don’t need to heat expressed milk
I assume op means of she expresses and stores it in the fridge, it might then be too cold for baby, in which it needs to be warmed

Please look into the risks before getting one of these. SIL is a midwife and it’s the first thing she warned me not to buy

You can give expressed breastmilk from the fridge if you wish. We only give the occasional bottle and it is usually serve from the fridge

I have the Tommee Tippee sterilising set & it comes with a bottle warmer which i (hopefully) will heat up expressed breast milk in. I’m sure you could probably buy one on it’s own without the steriliser!

Depends on your child. You'll find o said it might be too cold. My DSs wouldn't drink fridge cold milk when they were tiny so after a day in the fridge it DID need to be heated
