Bleeding after orgasm 6 weeks pregnant

Hi, I am 6 weeks pregnant and last night I had a non penetrative orgasm which caused me to bleed straight after. When I wiped it was wet looking blood (not bright red, but also not brown). It's made me feel panicky and worried although it's reduced to light brown spotting this morning. I feel nauseous and my boobs still hurt so I'm hoping that's a good sign that everything is actually OK. Has anyone else had this and been OK? Xx

Yes if it is just spotting this is normal, try not to worry

june2007 · 11/10/2020 10:42

DEf go and get checked out. Because I lost my last one around that time.

Ned2021 · 11/10/2020 10:47

Sorry but spotting is not normal... common, but not normal to which people get confused with.

Its quite common to spot or have a full on bleed and the pregnancy still be ok.

Ive had both, 1 ended in MC and 1 ended with a healthy baby. I am also 14 weeks pregnant and had a bleed at 6 weeks.

I would wait until tomorrow and if you are still spotting, or its got worse or if you are just too worried, just pop to your local EPU and get it checked out.

Bleeding doesnt always mean bad news.

Good luck x

I suffered a miscarriage in August at 4 weeks 6 days. I haven't been appointed a midwife yet. Who would be best to call?

CAll the GP surgery.

Mollykora · 11/10/2020 10:50

I'm also not in any pain right now. No cramping. Just light brown marks still when I wipe.

I wasn,t in pain either, that doesn,t mean anything.

river12 · 11/10/2020 11:40

If you call the EPU they usually ask if you had sex, as spotting can be normal afterwards. I had the exact same thing. I think if you are worried call the EPU but as I say, it can be nothing to worry about

Mollykora · 11/10/2020 12:05

I've just spoken to EPU and they told me just to monitor it over the next couple of days and to call back if bleeding gets worse. Feel stuck in limbo now with no definite answer :(

I had this in my first pregnancy, the blood was running into the toilet for a second or two. Our EPAU won't see you till 7 weeks so I just had to wait and see. It was fine but I had alot of smaller bleeds in that pregnancy - it was cervical erosion.

beckyyl · 11/10/2020 13:36

I had this at 6 weeks! Everything was absolutely fine I was terrified and it was an awful wait to get to the scan but everything was absolutely fine. Please try your best to keep calm and hopefully you can be scanned next week x

Mollykora · 11/10/2020 13:46

Thank you! Will try my best to stay calm until I can get a scan xx

@Mollykora is it feasible for you to book a private scan if you can't get into the EPU?

I'd also be a bit pushy with you GP about a referral to the EPU.

cherrybun01 · 11/10/2020 15:20

I also had this at about 6/7 weeks and then again at 9 weeks. both after non penetrative orgasms. I immediately feared the worse, crying to my partner saying it has happened again (had a loss 4 months previously) but it was absolutely fine and I never bled again during my pregnancy, although I did refrain from having sex and any kind of orgasm again until I was in the third trimester. just made me feel more at ease.

Mollykora · 11/10/2020 16:48

I think I will be doing the same if all is OK! Too scared to go there again!

I had exactly this at around 5-6 weeks, no pain but brown/dark spotting.
It went after a couple of days but I did worry a lot. I didn’t call EPAU as we were away and wasn’t sure about the local hospitals.
Just had an early scan at 8+2 and all is well, little heartbeat and wriggly bubs.
I’m sure you’ll be OK but do speak to EPAU if it doesn’t settle

Mollykora · 11/10/2020 17:18

Thank you all for sharing your own stories. Makes me feel a little less alone in this. It doesn't half give you a scare! Xx

More blood flows to the cervix during pregnancy and it's easily irritated, by sex or exercise etc, which can cause spotting. As others have said, it's common, especially in early pregnancy. So don't panic! Your continued pregnancy symptoms are very reassuring. I had exactly the same experience as you at very similar points in my pregnancies. All was fine!

Mollykora · 11/10/2020 19:44

Still having brown spotting. Wondering how long this is likely to last 😕

Brown blood is good because that's old blood, so it's not new. Keep trying to remember that hun I know it's hard I remember the worry x
Mollykora · 12/10/2020 09:53

EPU called me and will give me an early scan on Thursday. Fingers crossed everything is OK!
