Hey all. I just found out I am pregnant with my second child. When pregnant with my first I was in full time work so was entitled to the norm statutory pay.
I've been a stay at home mum since the birth of my first, my fiancé works full time.

Am I entitled to any maternity grants or anything ? Or is only for people who are claiming some type of benefits?
I only claim child benefit of around £80 at the moment so not sure what the terms are.

I can't figure out all the rules on the gov website and need it explained in simple terms... I have mum brain Grin

Tia!

Hi

I really recommend a benefits calculator like

www.entitledto.co.uk/

As its different for everyone you will probably get your own calculation. Hope that helps :)

Maternity grants are only available if you don’t have a child under 16 in the household and are on income related benefits.

It may be worth checking if you would be able to claim Universal Credit as a couple, even if your fiancé works.

I second the suggestion to try a benefit calculator, it will give you a good starting point

How much does your fiancé earn?
Do you rent or have a mortgage?
Depending on the answers to the above, you might be entitled to some Universal Credit.
Your Child Benefit will increase by £13.95/week so you'll get £35/week in total (£140 paid every 4 weeks).
