Hi Everyone,

I recently had my 12 week scan and when I asked about gender they said they were unable to see?
It is too possible to tell at 12 weeks?

You can't find out the sex until the 20 week scan x

12 weeks is too early. Some private scans will look from 16 weeks. Be prepared that not all nhs 20 week scans will tell you the sex.

You can see from 16 weeks if you go private

Baby is tiny at 12 weeks. You’ll find out at your 20 week, have patience. The main thing is the baby is healthy.

At 12 weeks babies (male or female) have nubs and they both look similar. There are things like 'nub theory' that might help but you have to take it as a bit of fun.

They won’t tell you at 12 weeks, one reason is that at that stage you could have an abortion, which some people do due to the sex of their baby.

Btw... Sex is biological, whereas gender refers to socially constructed roles for men and women.

Sex not gender!
