Changed mind about gender reveal from harmony test?

Hi,
Has anyone had a harmony test and requested not to be told the gender, only to change their mind?! Haha.
I’m not sure if, if you’ve told them you don’t want to know, they just withhold the information from you in that case, or if they don’t perform that test at all?
My DH has decided he does want to know after all Hmm and I was pretty easy either way but leaning more towards knowing! But we’ve already had the test a few weeks ago and got the result (without the gender).
We’re 13 weeks tomorrow so not ages to wait but now I know he’s happy with it I want to know ASAP haha.

Did you have the test for sex chromosome abnormalities as well as Trisomy 21/13/18? If so then they might be able to tell you.

Quail15 · 06/10/2020 13:08

I don't know how they test for the baby's sex. I had the Harmony test this morning and was told there is a bit of a wait for results (5-10 working days) so maybe contact your clinic and ask if you can change it if they haven't already processed your blood test. Good luck x

ChampooPapi · 06/10/2020 13:22

@Somedayivf assume you've rang the clinic and asked?

ChampooPapi · 06/10/2020 13:23

@Quail15 they've had their results already without the sex included

Sanch1 · 06/10/2020 15:56

We didn't find out the sex with our harmony but they told us if we changed our minds we could phone up and they'd run that part of the test.

Somedayivf · 06/10/2020 17:24

Thanks all!
In all honesty we haven’t called up and asked the clinic yet as we had to file a complaint about the way the scan and test was handled - so I wanted to avoid making contact with them unless I knew for sure we could get the result.

Thanks @Sanch1 - sounds like hopefully it might be possible!
@Darkstar4855 the results says we had tests for Trisomy 21, 18 and 13 so it doesn’t sound like any others were included Confused

@Quail15 they test for the presence of a y-chromosome. If that is present, it's a boy. If there is no y, then it's taken it is a girl.

OP I believe the test is done but you can choose not to be told. So it should be available to you on request.

@Somedayivf know this is an old thread but I’m in your exact position and wondered if you were able to find out the gender?

Rtmhwales · 09/02/2021 23:22

@stanns48 not the OP but my SIL changed her mind and just rang them/the clinic directly to find out. Wasn't a bother, she knew the same day.

stanns48 · 10/02/2021 13:58

@Rtmhwales thank you!

Somedayivf · 13/02/2021 13:05

Yeah @stanns48 I called them and they said they could re run that part of the test but they needed my ivf clinic who I booked it through to instruct them. Found out in a matter of a few days.
