8 weeks pregnant and bleeding

Just looking for a hand hold really, I think I know what is happening or is going to happen already but thought writing it down might somehow make it easier.

8 and a half weeks pregnant, have felt ok so far aside from a few days of nausea, exhaustion and really sore boobs. Nothing different yesterday, but all night I had so much watery discharge (but no blood) it was keeping me awake because it felt like I'd wet myself (sorry TMI). So after a disturbed night, went to the loo this morning and there was a fair bit of blood. No clots or tissue, but more than just spotting.

So now I just have to play the waiting game until the GP opens. What's making it worse is that we had an early scan on Friday which confirmed my dates and we saw the heartbeat.

Try not to worry too much and stay positive, this doesn't mean anything conclusively. I have heard of lots of women who have some bleeding in pregnancy and their baby is O.K. They may give you some progesterone tablets or even a shot of it to help. I really hope everything works out for you and that your baby is O.K.

Thanks @Smileandtheworldsmileswithyou I'm trying to stay positive but struggling. Had a very straightforward pregnancy last time so didn't have to go through any of this. I almost feel worse because I'd been reassured by the scan we had on Friday I think

Hey, I’m going through the same thing right now, also 8 weeks.

I wouldn’t bother with your gp- but if you call the early pregnancy unit at your hospital who should book you in for a scan. Their number should be online.

I’ve had light brown discharge for a few weeks and the only Friday I had some red, and again yesterday some red (both times only on wiping). I’m terrified but my early pregnancy unit is giving me a scan Thursday morning.

It is scary but from what I’m hearing blood doesn’t always have to be bad news. You may just have a bleed in there or sometimes they never find out the source. Have you had any scans yet?

@Cafeaulait27 so sorry to hear you're going through the same thing - rubbish isn't it!
I had an early scan last Friday and everything was absolutely fine which does give me a small glimmer of hope I guess

If it helps any, ive been bleeding on and off since day one sometimes heavy sometimes spotting, I'm 9+5 with twins. Ive had two scans abd both times they could bit see where the bleeding is coming from yet its there? Causes complete stress and worry - i downloaded an app called bellabeat shell which apparently works like a doppler and lets ne hear babies heartbeat, that has reassured me somewhat but i know i wont fullt settle until after 13 week scan! Good luck OP xx

  • not see - sorry for all the typos 🙈

@looloo247 thank you ❤️ This is my first pregnancy and I’m no expert at all but I wonder if your bleeding could be down to the scan you had on Friday? Was it a Vaginal one? Hand hold for you and hope it works out.

@Lizziejayne13 wow I didn’t know there was apps that could do that, does it really work?

looloo247 · 06/10/2020 09:01

Just an update - have spoken to GP who has referred me to EPU for a scan on Thursday and have been advised to rest until then (easier said than done with a 2 year old!). The bleeding is easing off slightly now, but still going to be a long couple of days I think!
@Lizziejayne13 thanks for the positive spin, it definitely provides a bit of comfort - hope the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly Smile

@looloo247 hope all goes well for you on Thursday, I’ll let u know how Thursday goes for me too.

Glad to hear the bleeding seems to be subsiding, it may just be irritation. Xxx

Cafeaulait27 · 08/10/2020 13:27

Hey @looloo247 hope it goes well for you today.

Unfortunately my scan today was bad news and I’m going to miscarry, but I really hope it works out for you xx

looloo247 · 08/10/2020 14:58

@Cafeaulait27 so sorry to hear that, hope you're holding up ok.

I'm just waiting for my scan now, have definitely overdone the pint of water I was asked to drink though so hope it isn't too much longerConfused

@looloo247 hope everything goes ok for you xx

looloo247 · 09/10/2020 07:10

Just to update - had a scan yesterday and everything was ok, measuring the right size and a good heartbeat seen. There's no explanation for the bleeding, just one of those things

That's great news about the scan! I hope everything continues to go well for you and others in here suffering the same stresses Flowers

I know how worrying it is. I had bleeding at 10 weeks. I remember how helpless I felt. That baby is now 17 yes old and as feisty as they come! Good luck x

That’s great, so pleased for you ❤️
