Has anyone had a 7 week scan?

I have a scan booked for the 18th October which will make me 7 weeks based on dates.
Has anyone on here had an early scan and had reassurance that everything is ok?

I had a scan at what I thought was 7w+3 but was actually 7w+4. We got to see the heartbeat, and a little blob. It was really reassuring for us before we told the parents.

I would say be prepared that you could br a bit out with your date and only at 6w, and not yet able to see a heartbeat. I was prepared for that possibility but I know others haven't been and had an unnecessary upset when it's just been a maths issue!

I had an early scan at what by my dates should have been 7+3, but the scan put me at 6+1 and we were told we were very lucky to see a heartbeat so early. It might be worth putting your scan back by a week or so for reassurance as even the difference of baby measuring half a mm more or less at this stage makes a huge difference with dates. Congratulations and good luck!

We had a scan at 6w - but we went so early due to a previously ectopic and NHS weren't scanning. We went in with full intentions of just ensuring baby was in the right place. But there 'he/she' was, perfectly placed and even got a healthy heartbeat. We measured 5w6d.

I guess it depends what you're going for and how confident you are with you're dates.

Yes, had a scan at 7+3. Saw a heart beat on our little prawn.

Yes. 3 pregnancies.
Our preferred place says from 6wks but heavily recommend 6w+4days to avoid the stress if no heartbeat can yet be seen.
I was certain of dates so went at 6wks plus 4 all 3 times. It always gave me some reassurance.
Good luck OP! And congratulations!

I recently had what I thought was my 7 week scan (first pregnancy) but it turns out I wasn't as far along as I though so there was very little to so. I ended up having to wait a week and a half before going back in for a second scan. Agree with the poster above that if you can wait another week it might save you the stress of not seeing a heartbeat and having to come back later.

Having said that, the second scan (where I saw a heartbeat etc) was quite reassuring.

Yes, 7 weeks on the nose and saw a little peanut with a heartbeat but was an IVF pregnancy so certain of dates.

peachypetite · 06/10/2020 08:30

Wait until 8 weeks.

@Edinburghfalls Thank you, yeah the place I'm going to recommends 6 weeks onwards. I'm pretty sure I have my dates correct, but I know it doesn't always work out that way lol.

Thank you Smile
