Hiya. I went for my early scan on Saturday to make sure everything is perfect, I should have been 5 weeks according to my ovulation date, however I was told I'm 7 weeks. My question is, do they add the 2 weeks from your LMP? Sorry if this sounds uneducated, I was just wondering how the lady made it 7 weeks exactly when it should have been 5 weeks on the dot.

Thank you!

If you are five weeks from ovulation then you are 7 weeks pregnant as thet date from the period 😊

Pregnancy is measured from the first date of your last period, because it's a generally observable measure. Most people don't know exactly when they ovulated unless they are TTC, so they assume you are on a 28 day "average" cycle and assume you ovulated 2 weeks after your period started. So at 7 weeks pregnant, you ovulated 5 weeks ago and had 2 weeks of not actually being pregnant bit classed as pregnant.

@JPT0102
Hey! Congratulations Smile
Did you manage to see anything on the scan when you went? I'm booked in for the 18th October which based on my dates will make me 7 weeks on scan day x
