@Mc3209 The other side is definitely worth the wait! Sleep, what is sleep? People say sleep when baby sleeps but that is impossible lol. I'm just enjoying this time with my little man, I find myself just sniffing him sometimes because he just smells so beautiful! Definitely feel like a zombie with the lack of sleep but this time goes so quickly. I'm exclusively breastfeeding which is tiring and demanding especially having two other children but it is all definitely worth it.

WaveStreet · 13/10/2020 20:43

Pleased to hear you and Noah are doing well @SamK93.

Hope you're getting on ok too @DressingGown87 thinking of you!

KitKatKit · 13/10/2020 21:06

@DressingGown87 Hope its all gone well today!

@SamK93 Ah I'm with you on the sleep deprivation but you're a superhero for managing a newborn with older kids too!

Mc3209 · 13/10/2020 21:13

@KitKatKit @SamK93 the lack of sleep I worry about the most. But I guess one just gets on with it once the baby is here.
Have you both recovered from labour?

KitKatKit · 13/10/2020 22:14

@Mc3209 The lack of sleep might be helped if you can do the whole "sleep when baby sleeps" as @SamK93 said, but I'm struggling with that.

Labour recovery has been okay - I had an episiotomy, some stitches which separated at day 10 and were causing me a lot of pain, I couldn't sit anywhere - not in bed or on the sofa, so I was put on antibiotics for a week which helped.

I feel fortunate to have had a straightforward (albeit long) labour and appreciate others will have had it worse than me! Also, I've got great support with both baby and household stuff so I've been able to focus entirely on resting, getting breastfeeding established, and eating all the cake that I can get my hands on Grin . Note to everyone, cake makes everything better once you're home Smile

Hello to everyone! I think we're all desperately waiting for some news from
DressingGown!

I've harvested some colostrum this eve! My sister who is a midwife recommended these syringes (from Amazon) with caps so they stay clean. I've put them in a ziplock bag in the freezer.

I've had a lovely anniversary with my lovely partner ❤️

Morning! Thank you for all the well wishes. Sadly no arrival news to announce. I had the first part of the induction yesterday afternoon, contractions started thick and fast, but my body wasn’t ready, and this caused the baby distress. So they gave me an injection to slow the labour down. Or in my case stop it completely. They did the second stage of induction later last night, but this hasn’t worked. So I’m on 24 hour rest, to help her out. So doesn’t look like it will be today either. Not had much sleep, so I’m tired, but the hospital is loud, stuffy, and generally uncomfortable.

@samk93 and @KitKatKit glad your both doing well, apart from the sleep deprivation. Enjoy lots of newborn cuddles.

@KitKatKit I don't feel like superwoman but thank you ❤️ oooh no I'm lucky that I didn't have to have stitches can't imagine the pain!

@Mc3209 like I just said to kitkatkit I'm quite lucky in the sense that I didn't have to have any stitches etc, I think the only good thing about having a natural labour is the recovery is a lot quicker, yes I'm not gonna lie to you the pain is on another scale and it hurts a bloody lot but once baby's out it's all worth every bit. I'm glad I didn't have an epidural and just stuck to the gas and air as I didn't have any side effects or anything after to worry about. it definitely takes a few days to start walking properly and for the bleeding to ease but if your getting rest in between your body generally recovers quickly and quite well if you've had no complications.

@DressingGown87 you must be exhausted! Don't worry though they know what they're doing, your baby girl will be here soon she just wants to make mummy wait and she will be worth it I'm sure! After your 24 hour rest whats their next plan? I'm with you on loud stuffy hospitals! Stay positive x

Flora20 · 14/10/2020 08:09

@DressingGown87 Hopefully you can get a decent rest and relax enough for things to happen a bit more easily 🙂 Are you staying in or able to go home? Try to do lots to get the oxytocin flowing - things that make you happy! X

DressingGown87 · 14/10/2020 08:30

@samk93 thank you. She has done what she wants the whole way through, seem that’s not going to change. They start with the gels again. If they don’t work or cause the same problem, we probably go down the EMCS option.

@Flora20 thank you. I’m stuck on a monitor as she was distressed, so have to stay in hospital and not very mobile. I’m hoping with some gentle persuasion and words from me, she might come on her own accord today.

Hope everyone is ok.

Ahh keep going @DressingGown87, hopefully baby will change her mind and decide to make her entrance today. Fingers crossed for you

Freddie1987 · 14/10/2020 09:17

@DressingGown87 sounds like you're doing amazingly so far, fingers crossed she decides to make an appearance today too! Xx

1990shopefulftm · 14/10/2020 13:32

@DressingGown87 hope baby's changed her mind today rather than keeping you waiting.

FirstSurprise001 · 14/10/2020 14:20

@DressingGown87 you’re so close! Hope things have gotten a little easier for you today and you’re managing to get some rest on the ward.

Having another episode of minor bleeding again today - you know when it’s just when you go for a wee? This will be the third time in the last month and each time they have no idea why. Anyone else experienced it? Sounds bad but I don’t want to call triage again and have to sit in for hours to be told the same thing again 🙄

CurlyMummy1912 · 14/10/2020 14:53

@FirstSurprise001 sounds like it could be your cervix thinning out - if it's only spotting I think it's prob minor. You should get support if it worsens though.

@DressingGown87 you're so close now!

I've had a waddle on our treadmill...1km in 18mins!! It's funny as I'm usually so fit and in the gym constantly!!

Also had an hour and a half nap Smile

I spoke to the hospital about a covid test and they do a swab at the pre-op which is 3 days before my section. If I am positive I have to go in alone but if negative they let my partner in and he doesn't even get tested. If I go into labour earlier and have emergency one they wouldn't have time for that I'm guessing.

In the meantime we are locking down as much as possible to try to avoid any germs!

Xxx

1990shopefulftm · 14/10/2020 14:56

@FirstSurprise001 I ve never experienced it myself but I ve known someone have it happen and they were told it was their cervix being a bit irritated (they weren't pregnant at the time though).

Had my 38 week appointment today and as I d seen a different person two weeks ago my growth chart had me as growing 3cm in 2 weeks, she decided not to worry though as it seems it matches the other previous measurements and thought her colleague was just a bit out.

Booked in for an appointment at 40+2 and they ve said their happy to do a membrane sweep then, thinking if I get that far then I ll take up the offer. I was just too young to book in a smear test before my pregnancy so I don't know what to expect a sweep or an examination to be like.

CurlyMummy1912 · 14/10/2020 15:47

@1990shopefulftm you've got me wondering how old everyone is here! Please share if you are comfortable doing so. I'm 39 x

Flora20 · 14/10/2020 15:56

@FirstSurprise001 Probably just your cervix being irritated a bit but check with your midwife if it continues - I can see why you wouldn't want to go in again!

@CurlyMummy1912 I had to have a think but I'm pretty sure I'm 33 😂 Only one child currently - god knows what will happen to my memory when this one's born!

1990shopefulftm · 14/10/2020 16:04

@CurlyMummy1912 i'm 25. Locking down as much as possible sounds like a good plan, we aren't going out except to get a click and collect food order now until my next midwife appointment.

I know a few people who've had covid tests done now, they've all said the swab isn't as bad as they expected it would be which is comforting.

FirstSurprise001 · 14/10/2020 16:38

@1990shopefulftm @CurlyMummy1912 @Flora20 they did say last time I went in that it was likely cervix irritation but I guess I’m just symptom spotting now in the hopes he’s going to come ASAP.

I’ve just turned 25 and a FTM (you probably guessed that from the constant questions and worrying though ha!)

CurlyMummy1912 · 14/10/2020 16:45

Thanks for replying! It's nice to hear how old you are. I had a horrible divorce from a man with huge mental health problems. He left when my son was 8 months old so it's taken me a lot of time to heal and find someone right for me hence the 8 year age gap and being quite a bit older having this one. I think this will be our only child together but I feel very very lucky to have the man I have and a boy and a girl on the way. Conceiving was tricky as my partner is at sea for half the year (10 weeks on/10 weeks off) and being older we worried it would be harder. This is my partner's only child. He's never been married or had children before - hard to believe as he's a real catch but has spent so much time at sea.

I can't wait to meet my baby and tell everyone her name. Are you keeping names secret until the birth or telling people before? We haven't even said her name to each other. We decided over text when he was away so it will strangely be a really special moment when we say her name out loud xx

1990shopefulftm · 14/10/2020 16:46

@FirstSurprise001 it's certainly difficult not to get hopeful that something is a sign, whenever i've been getting slight cramping or on and off back pain i ll question if it's labour or not.

1990shopefulftm · 14/10/2020 16:57

@CurlyMummy1912 we'd been set on a name since before he was conceived so our close friends and families already know what it is, we hadn't ever thought it could be a different name so we don't think we'll meet him and decide it's the wrong name for him.

Glad you've found the right person for you now. There's quite a big age gap between my half sister and I and it worked out really well for my mum, i m hoping i remember a fair bit from when she was a baby to be able to use those skills now.

DressingGown87 · 14/10/2020 17:01

Hey ladies, I don’t know what to do. They have given me extra drugs for induction, non have which have worked. Her head is right down, but as my cervix is posterior and tilted it just won’t open. They’ve told me I have to choose between a 48hour wait (for a second round of induction) or a csection tonight or tomorrow. I don’t know what to do? I am so confused, tired and anxious.

There is a change a second induction won’t work either, so will lead to a section. But then also have to consider the recovery of a section, living alone and being in lockdown.

Any wise words?

@DressingGown87

Do you have any strong feelings about vaginal vs sunroof?

Is there anyone at all who can be with you for the first week or so?
