Sneak peek gender test

Has anyone tried it? If so what was your experience?

I sent my sample off yesterday after being recommended it by my friend who got two accurate results with hers. I’m slightly sceptical after reading reviews and I also have two males at home, which is obviously not ideal as they’re so big on you not contaminating anything with male dna.

Guess it’s more just for fun, not sure I would 100% go by the results until our 20 week scan.

From what I’ve read it’s all poop. They’re basically guessing and have a 50/50 of being right. I looked at the reviews and there is loads that they got wrong. I spoke to a SIL who is a midwife and she said they’re a waste of money and so many people get disappointed at the scan when they get told the sneak peek was wrong.

Have a look at their Trustpilot reviews. I was considering it until I read them and now I'm not going anywhere near them.

Wow! Surely they’d be out of business by now though if it were that bad? My friend had a girl then a boy and it was correct for her. Obviously the odds are high so who knows.

Not necessarily, lots of companies are still in business despite having shocking customer service or being dodgy.

Their website and Facebook ads etc make them look fantastic so lots of women order from them and that keeps them in business.

There's a 50/50 chance of them being right so plenty of women get the correct result.

Sounds like money making garbage. I don’t get why people are so desperate to find out when you have the option of doing so at your 20 week scan by a qualified sonographer.

positivedreams · 05/10/2020 10:54

I was really keen to try this but when I looked at the reviews online and not on their website I was shocked at how many people had bad experiences. I decided against it, but I assume lots of people have had a good experience too. It seemed on their website they only posted the good reviews which didn't sit right with me. If you do have one, I wouldn't buy anything gender specific until your 20 week just in case :)

We did the sneak peak at 10 weeks and it said boy, three scans have since confirmed baby is indeed a girl Blush

NellyJames · 05/10/2020 21:25

It is the same as pink or blue? If so they are basically a scam. They tell everyone it’s a boy for 6mths Then refund the roughly 50% they got wrong so no real complaints. They still make about 50% of what they charge.

iloveyoubutilovememore · 08/10/2020 09:11

Well it came back as 'inconclusive' which has made me anxious if anything.

There's a massive thread on Baby Centre about Sneak Peek. They kept track of people's results and found it was right about 50% of the time surprise surprise! Some women were really upset and I think one ended up trying to sue? Another woman was told a gender but later found out that her sample had never left the post office.
Some of those women got inconclusive results too (and their babies were fine) so don't let it worry you.

I did the sneak peek, however, I paid for it at a clinic where they are based. Blood was drawn from my arm by a trained phlebotomist as with a normal blood test so accuracy is almost 100% rather than paying for the do it at home version. Had mine at 10 weeks which said girl and my 3 week old daughter is now currently sleeping on me.

Thought I would update in case anyone was interested. Sneak peek sent me a replacement test out pretty much straight away. Did it and sent off on Monday, got the results back last night which said it’s a boy. So we’ll see!
