Are my nipples going to fall off?

Because it bloody well feels like it... Like a little borrower is a sailing down and stabbing my nipple with a nipple sized pickaxe!
I'm 22 weeks and the shooting pain in my left nipple is so so sore. I could cry. Wtf do I do? I'm literally sitting her rubbing and squeezing them, almost hand expressing but nothing coming out. But I need to leave the house at some stage today and I don't really want to be arrested for squeezing my nipples in sainsburys!
Any suggestions or reassurance?!

Cotton wool pad soaked in water and frozen, sealed in a sandwich bag and tucked inside your bra? Might need something between the plastic and your skin though

I'd make a gp appointment, my nipples never hurt that much during either pregnancy.

This stuff really helped when I started breastfeeding.

Ouch! I remember that (though the memory is thankfully faded with time!)

For me the cold didn't work, but a hot bath and then carefully massaging breast and nipple with body butter (the Burt's bee one worked well for me).

I know your only allowed half a paracetamol and that some how basking in gratitude of sustaining a growing life is meant to suspend you above such inconveniences - so feel free to bitch, moan and complain on here freely if it helps.

If it carries on, call your midwife (if you have one yet, gp if you don't) just to rule out anything problematic.

Thank you! It's just so sore! I think I'll run a warm bath (not hot, cheers baby!) and see if that helps!
With all this rain I'm just sitting at home thinking about how sore my nipples are.. I'm sure dh thinks I'm great company!

@Timeforabiscuit out of curiosity why only half a paracetamol. My midwife has just said try not to take them but if you need to normal dose is fine (e.g. 2 tablets every 4 hours) I don’t take pain killers anyway but just wondered.

Sorry @Oneandabean - I was being a bit flippant, but I remember at the time having lots of conflicting advice about what pain relief I could safely take - this was ten years ago though, and they might be a bit more reasonable now!
