Night sweats

Hi All,
Sorry if TMI but I’m currently suffering for really bad night sweats. I go to bed wearing just pants but with a few hours I wake up and I’m head to toe dripping in sweat- even my legs! It’s really uncomfortable and just odd. Is this a common pregnancy symptom? Normally, I’d be going to bed with a hot water bottle and a top on but at the moment no way! 😳 Thanks x

Hi @Dolly89,

Congratulations on your pregnancy!
How far along are you?
I’m coming up to 11 weeks and have been experiencing the same for many weeks now...like you I am sleeping in pants and even tried having the lightest blanket instead of a duvet...took ages to fall asleep as I was so cold but then woke 3 hours later with the same sweats!

Unfortunately I haven’t much in the way of advice but I will be saying it to the midwives at my 12 week appointment and if I get any tips will update!

I've had this a few times in the last week. I tend to find its worst if I go to sleep without clothes on as skin on skin just makes the sweating worse. Try wearing something light but keeping arms and feet out the duvet/blanket.

Thank you!! Congratulations yourself. I’ll be ten weeks on Monday. It’s just so gross and really uncomfortable I wake up with wet patches! I will definitely mention it at my 12 week if I’m still experiencing the same! 😳

I think being naked can actually make you more sweaty. Try 100% cotton pjs

Unfortunately night sweats are a side effect of a medication I take. I try to prioritise getting back to sleep after a sweat wakes you up, so I wear something to try and prevent the bedding being really wet, and have a change of clothes ready by the bed so I don't have to put the light on and wander about. Also drink plenty of water when you wake. It's really crap!

I've been getting this recently and I'm 38 weeks!
