7-8 weeks - feel tired like I’ve been drugged!

Like many women on their first pregnancy, I’m really anxious for my 12 week scan and keep worrying something has happened to the baby already.

Is the fact that I’m getting more and more tired a good thing? Does it mean things are progressing? Or does it not really mean much?

I haven’t had much nausea but have gone off some foods, as well as feeling dizzy/off balance and having headaches. Without the nausea I just keep worrying that I’m not even really pregnant anymore, even though I had an early scan that showed a heartbeat.

Just wanted to see if anyone else found themselves getting more and more tired in the first trimester, and how their dating scans went? And if anyone else in early pregnancy is feeling the same? Xxx

I had exactly the same. It eased off by about week 10, but before that I was so tired I felt like I was underwater.

DD is now 9 months and perfect.

@PaulinePetrovaPosey aww that’s lovely!! Yes... I feel a bit spaced out! A bit like jet lag or something?! Despite sleeping relatively well (about 7 hours) and working from home so not commuting or anything.

I’m 7 weeks today and feel the exact same, napping every afternoon and in bed super early.

blackcat86 · 02/10/2020 14:34

Sounds about right. I felt like I had been hit by a bus and would come home from work and just sleep on the sofa - not a doze, a proper dream sleep. I then came down with an awful cold to. All very normal.

Scotabroad24 · 02/10/2020 14:35

Try not to worry (I know it's futile) first trimester tiredness is horrendous! I'm nearing 32 weeks now and sleep seems to be a thing of the past but it still doesn't feel anywhere nearly as bad as the chronic exhaustion I felt until I hit about 13 weeks.

A few more weeks and you should be feeling much better Smile

lunalulu · 02/10/2020 14:36

Yep. It's standard.

I only have from 9-9.30 am, 11.30-12, 4-5 and 8-9 where I can walk around, from week 6-12. Honest. Rest of time just sleep 😀🙂

Cafeaulait27 · 02/10/2020 14:41

This is all reassuring to know! I keep feeling like I am ‘wasting’ time by just slobbing out ok the sofa all evening and going to bed so early, but I guess this is the time when I should just do what my body is telling me to do!

I am 7 weeks and 4 days and I literally feel jet lagged. Even though I’m getting a good 8 hours sleep each night I am constantly fatigued during the day and can’t keep my eyes open past 9.30pm. Like the above poster I’m also working from home and not commuting. I haven’t had any sickness though just tiredness and really sore boobs!

StrawberriCream · 02/10/2020 14:50

I could have written these posts, I have been so tired I've been going for day time naps on my days off, in bed before my 9 year old, just generally feel wiped out, it's awful

RoseGoldEagle · 02/10/2020 15:07

Early pregnancy tiredness is the worst thing. I honestly find the tiredness of having a newborn easier to deal with, because the occasions when I can sleep I then wake up feeling better, whereas in early pregnancy I could get a full nights sleep and still feel completely shattered. I think mine was worst between about 7 and 10 weeks and then very slowly eased. Definitely don’t feel guilty about getting as much sleep and naps as you can, it’s absolutely what your body needs! I also didn’t have any other symptoms this time- no nausea at all just the extreme tiredness (am 39 weeks now and although tired again now it’s still nothing compared to those early weeks!) Hope it eases for you soon!

Cafeaulait27 · 02/10/2020 15:20

So glad it’s not just me! I wake up in the morning feeling like I have a hangover and then feel jet lagged all day, particularly in the afternoon and evening, and want to go to bed super early!

Hope it’s a good sign that the right things are happening in there 🤞

8 weeks pregnant and sooooo tired! Like the back end of a hangover, constantly. House is a tip, I only work 3 days per week so no excuse and my boys are teenagers so I’m not running after toddlers. But yes, exhausted and I don’t remember feeling so bad in my other pregnancies - maybe because they were so long ago!

Siennabear · 02/10/2020 15:40

It’s normal and a good thing! Your body is working really hard to create a little human! Once the placenta takes over you should start to feel better and get the pregnancy glow. I think that’s around 16 weeks ?

whatsthecraic91 · 02/10/2020 16:58

Yep jet lag is a great way to describe it! I felt like this until about 10 weeks
