Spots :-(

12 weeks pregnant and really struggling with breakouts. I'm pale skinned so I always look worse with them. All over my chin. The side of my face and the absolute beauties (basically new heads!) are bang in the middle of my cheeks. I just feel so down and ugly.

So far I have experienced every pregnancy symptom going - sickness (signed off work), inflamed gums (emergency dental appt booked and attended), colds, nausea, food aversions.

Now the sickness is passing (ish, I was sick 3x today so not really), I am looking into the mirror and the spotty mess that exists.

I don't look pregnant, having lost weight due to the sickness. And then glow? Only if a glow means you resemble a spotty ghost.

Sorry about the rant but PLEASE if anyone could offer any advice on how to deal with the spots, that would be wonderful.

X

PS I am obviously absolutely thrilled to be expecting but that outburst was needed after the longest first trimester ever. I'm sure you understand!

It's the hormones. You could be having a hormone surge. I'm 14 weeks and having a surge too, my skin is terrible the last week. It settles down again. But yes it's frustrating when you think you are supposed to Glow with health 😂

I have huge spots in the exact same places! I don’t have much advice in getting rid of them, but I’ve gotten pretty good at covering them up which makes me feel loads better. I use a Vichy Dermablend concealer which a make up artist recommended to me, it was a little pricey but so worth it. I use a brush to apply it.

I’ve spent a lot of time recently working on my make up routine and it’s really helped my confidence as spots are the worst. I’ve had them since coming off the pill but pregancy has made them worse.

I now use a biore charcoal face wash, spf moisturiser, primer, foundation, concealer, powder, bronzer, blusher, brow pencil and mascara.

I’ve found that it doesn’t make a difference to the healing time whether you our make up ion spots or not either.

I hope this helps!

I feel your pain, I’ve had breakouts all the way through so far- I’m now 29 weeks.
I ended up with them on my face, neck and shoulders. I have learnt to keep on top of them by cleaning my face/ neck more then normal using tea tree wash. I’ve accepted it’s part of my pregnancy and I’m just glad winter is coming so I can cover up more then in the summer!
I read that hormones can be a big part and it’s largely out of our control so acceptance seemed to be the best option for me.
Make up made mine worse but it’s a good idea to give it a try if you want to cover them!

The glow definitely isn’t associated with the first trimester!

It’ll hopefully settle down, but perhaps think about changing your skin care products. I had to switch skin care regime because my skin changed completely! I switched from Liz Earle that has always been lovely and suited my skin, to tropic skin care which has made my pregnancy skin so much better x

Mine were awful, great big pussy things all over my chin but they did settle down around week 12. I don’t think mask wearing helps either though as I’ve just had to wear one a lot this week and the spots are back.
I’m always into my skin care but I’ve been doing some extra cleanses and clay masks to help too.
It does make you feel ugly but honestly no one else will be thinking that, hopefully your hormones settle soon.

I had cystic acne and went on to have dermatology treatment for years. Now my skin was in maintenance phase with 2 antibiotics topical cream- clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide 2.5%
But though clindamycin was safe in pregnancy I stopped using all antibiotics in pregnancy and yes those bugging acnes are making their way.
I am 9 weeks pregnant and I m worried how would I tolerate these breakouts for another 7 months without those topical creams I can't cope. Anyhow i m thinking to ask my GP once if she cam advise me about those creams
