Night sweats and constant starvation

Hi all,

Looking to see if anyone else is experiencing similar symptoms.

I’m 10 weeks pregnant and since the beginning of my pregnancy I’ve been experiencing the worst night sweats...I’ll go to bed fine and wake up every few hours freezing cold and with damp sheets and wet pyjamas! It’s starting to drive me really mad as I can’t get a decent nights sleep..

Also I’m finding that I cannot satisfy my hunger at all. I’m eating constantly but it seems to make no difference and my stomach is constantly sick with the hunger...again I’m waking every 2 hours starving. I’ve gained 7 pounds already...has anyone else experienced this? It’s exhausting trying to force myself to eat constantly especially with all the food aversions and nausea!

I can’t help with the sweats I’m afraid but I do have a suggestion for the starvation. Each time you want to eat, drink a good size glass of water, wait a few mins, then eat.

You need huge amounts of hydration to make a new baby and sometimes the hunger/thirst signal gets jumbled!

Also make sure that you have good food on standby, so you’re not always just reaching for sugary stuff x

I experienced the starvation but later on, from around 24 weeks to 30 and that’s when I gained the most weight (7-8 pounds). Nothing stopped it I’m afraid, if you’re body is telling you it’s hungry I think during pregnancy is the time to give in. I tried all the healthy snacks and to be honest they just made me hungrier! I needed pure carbs. I looked around online at the time and saw it was pretty common.

Also have night sweats which don’t seem to be going anywhere, never had them pre pregnancy.. having a fan in the bedroom definitely helps 😊

I had night sweats in the first trimester but they did wear off after a couple of weeks. I also had the horrible starvation/raging hunger at end of first tri/start of second, I was so starving I would wake up in the middle of the night and raid the fridge. The best thing I found for it was porridge porridge porridge. Could make it with water too if you’re really worried about wright gain. That hungry stage did pass and I ended up really enjoying my second trimester Smile
