Could this be a false positive?

Hello,
I'm in slight disbelief that this is happening and I don't want to fully believe it. Firstly, me and my partner have been, what you call "not trying but not preventing", we said if it happens it happens we would be over the moon. So I had a bunch of empty pregnancy tests boxes lying around in my cupboard and noticed there was one digital clear blue left un opened in date, only bought a few months back. I thought well there is a chance but I just didn't think I would be and I decided to test and oh and behold, "pregnant" right across the screen. I made sure I followed the instructions it told me to dip into a sample of urine for 20 seconds I timed it on my watch. No I haven't taken any other test because I've just gone straight to work, and I'm kind of freaking out, I'm a dental nurse and it's in the pocket of my tunic which isn't very hygienic but I can't stop looking at it. I'm going to buy some line tests on the way home to take tomorrow morning. I'm just worried that it's a false positive because i have fallen into the trap and i have read some reviews saying that this has happened to some people. What do you think? Can I trust this? Give me your harsh truths and if anything has happened to you like this where a digital has said yes but Infact you're not.

I don't know of any false positives on these tests. Digital tests aren't very sensitive so you need a decent amount of hcg to get a positive, probably enough to get a strong line on a normal test. So I would say you're definitely pregnant!

You are probably in a tad of shock. Most people have a little build up doing a test because they might be pregnant / late period / symptoms with a little time for the brain to process the possibility. You have just seen a test and thought what the hay! Understandably there's a little disbelief there.
