Going for first scan tomorrow - how long does the appointment usually take??? My appointments at 2:40pm and I'm just wondering whether I'll be able to get back to work or not

Is it just an initial viability scan? Or a later dating scan at nearer 12 weeks? If the first no more than 5-10 minutes if all is OK. If there is any sort of problem (fingers crossed for you) you will be there for longer whilst the options about what to do next are explained. From memory the dating scan takes a bit longer as there is more to see by then, but still no more than 10-15 mins.

Either way although you probably COULD get back to work you are perfectly within your rights not to!!

I was told to allow 2 hours for my first scan as they did a blood test and scan and the wait can be pretty crazy.

I did take almost 2 hours for my nuchal translucency scan at 12 weeks most of it spent waiting and the actual scan took no more than 15 minutes. However, I don't think many people have the scan and triple blood test at the same time with same day results so that could be why it tooks so long.

You should have some info with what they do and a rough time guide on. However, I'd say take the whole afternoon off!

I'm having a dating and NT scanapprently. Hmmm, I think I would have to be crazy to spend 50min getting back to work for an hour and 1/2! Especially with the way I've been feeling in the afternoons! Thanks Ladies my mind is made up

I think that was meant to read NT scan apparently not 'NT scanapprently'!

NT scan can take hours if baby refuses to go in correct position!
