High NT but gone normal 5 days later

Hi, I had my first scan on Thursday and baby was measuring a high NT of 4.8mm. They didn’t do my bloods as they said I would automatically be high risk, they also suspected cystic hygroma and there was fluid all around the baby. Our world came crashing down as we were told definitely a chance of chromosome abnormalities, if not a heart condition and if we are lucky they baby will be healthy. We were booked in for a CVS today at a different hospital but were told to expect no heart beat when we came for the scan.

We went for the CVS today 5 days later and had 2 different people scan us who measured NT at 2.5 max, no sign of cystic hygroma and fluid around the baby is not there. Also detected a strong heart beat and everything seemed ok. The CVS couldn’t be performed as my placenta was too far back but we have rebooked in for the amnio test at 16 weeks.

Has anybody had any experience with this, we were told if today had been our first scan we would have just been sent away as everything looked normal.

Slightly different to your circumstances but I was told baby had a high NT at my 12 week scan, told by the sonographer 3.5 but they wrote down 3.8.

The very next day the specialist hospital got two readings of 2.6 and a third of 3.0. I was told it was not possible to decrease that quickly but their kit was much more accurate and they couldn’t get anywhere near the 3.8.

I had the CVS and thankfully it all came back ok. I really think our first scan was wrong and I hope yours was to. Stay strong

Thank you for replying.

We had a consultant appointment the day after back at our local hospital who refused to measure the NT again and said they could still see fluid we just don’t know who to believe, it’s going to be a long 3 week wait for the amnio! We want to believe the FMU as 2 separate people scanned me who got w max reading of 2.5 but I don’t know if we are just holding on to hope as it was better news from them! X
