Hi Everyone! I've just found out that I'm pregnant (22F) and I've only just been in my graduate job for a year. Thankfully I'm eligible for maternity pay. I'm not really taken too seriously at work because I'm usually quite happy/ bubbly and I worry for the reaction I'm going to get.I'm not the best at my job but I just see it as a paycheck but I'm worried this attitude will also cost me too especially now that I'm pregnant. I'm soo excited though!!

I'm also a surfer too, I've been doing it professionally for quite a while before I started working full time. Do you think I'd be safe to keep surfing? ( obviously not in really big waves).

This is my first pregnancy so any advice would be great!

Hey @Surfermummytobe and welcome!

I hope your work respond better than you think. Remember any clear discrimination from your job on the basis of pregnancy is illegal (for example if they are critical about your pregnancy or fire you because you are pregnant).

Regarding surfing - the concern would be the risk of the board smacking you in the stomach. In general they recommend not doing sports where you could fall or get hit in the stomach. I'm only 5 weeks but wont be doing any Muay Thai anymore and plan to only boulder climb v easy things and only until I have a bump.
