PUL - Pregnancy of unknown location - Need advice

hi, I did a quick search and couldn't find a thread so posting a new one.
I just underwent an IVF treatment. Egg collection was on 5th Sept and Embryo transfer 8th Sept. It was a Grade 1 day 3 embryo. On 21st I did home pregnancy test and got positive. Same day went for blood tests at clinic . hcg 48 . The doc was worried about such low levels. Plus i had abdominal cramps. So she suggested to go to EPAU. I went to A&E on 23rd as hadn't heard back from any EPUs but also because i still had cramps then. At A&E the blood hcg was 100. They booked me for a scan for yesterday. The scan showed nothing so they marked it as PUL. The hcg blood yesterday was 383.
Considering it was 100 on 23rd and it should double every 48 hours it should have been 600 yesterday. I have to go for more bloods tomorrow so will know more.
Yesterday i was 4w6d. But as this is IVF and so there's no chance of late ovulation my hcg should have been much higher.
I searched on google and my hcg is still in range. Originally it doubled; but now it's doubling every 2.6 days. But we don't have enough evidence to conclude anything.

Do you think there's even slightest chance of a viable pregnancy?
is there anything i can do to help hcg levels increase? May be eat particular type of food or avoid something?

any help, advice, stories will be really helpful.

HCG should double every 48-72 hours, and I'd think you are very early for a scan to pick anything up. Fingers crossed for good news for you.

@RedCatBlueCat - Thanks so much for your reply. Yes, I read on internet that it should double every 48-72 hours. What worries me is initial low levels . They doubled from 48 to 100. But then didn't quite double in the days between 100 and 383. But hopefully tomorrow's will be better.

Hi, I am 5 weeks pregnant and last Thursday I started cramping and had light brown bleeding but hardly anything. This continued over the weekend and at times got darker and redder but was only when I wiped myself and nothing like my usual period. I went for a scan yesterday at EPU and was said to have a pregnancy of unknown location. They couldn't find anything anywhere but the lining of my womb was very thick and ready for pregnancy. They took bloods and have to go back for more bloods in 48 hours to check the hormone levels. Am sure I have miscarried due to the cramping/bleeding I have experienced and also other symptoms such as sore boobs have disappeared. Really hoping for a good outcome for you and that it is jut too early to see anything, wishing you all the luck in the world.

@Lozzle22 - Hope the blood results show some hope for you. I gave 2nd round of blood this morning, Now waiting for the results.
Do you know how thick was the lining of your womb? They didn't tell me anything about the lining. But did give me a print out of the scan; which I don't understand.

Just to update the thread, my PUL resulted in MC which is still going on.

I'm so sorry OP. IVF is such a rough old time so to go through that as well is heartbreaking. Did you have any frozen embryos?

@Parkandride - Unfortunately, I don't have any frozen embryos from my 2 IVF cycles.

@skot sorry for the late reply and sorry to read your update about miscarriage. I believe mine was an ectopic pregnancy. For the last 5 weeks I have had pain on my left side but nothing has shown on any of the further scans I have had. I have also had positive pregnancy tests for the last 6 weeks and finally got a negative test this morning which confirms the pregnancy has finally ended. Never thought I would hear myself say that. It now means I can start to move on. I still have some pain on my left side as believe it is still stuck in my tube. The doctors or hospital don't seem to be bothered about it and apparently it doesn't affect the function of the ovary or tube if it is small. Only time will tell I suppose. Hope you are ok and keeping well.

@Lozzle22 i am sorry to hear about your situation. I have been in the same boat. they couldn't rule out ectopic but they couldn't see anything on scan. For the last 5-6 weeks I have been going for blood tests to monitor my HCG which has been going down ever so slowly. One week it actually increased :( Finally, today it was 4. They have told me I don't need to go for tests again
Same as you, I cannot believe I am saying this, but I feel so relieved with the end of this pregnancy. It's been a crazy roller coaster.

But I can move on now. I got my periods today. This is the third bleed in the last 5 weeks. The last two lasted for 6-7 days. The EPU nurse told me i can consider this one as my periods and start of new cycle. I have to get hormone tests done so will go tomorrow.

I feel so much for you as I know what you must have felt in the last few weeks. Wishing you good luck for your next steps.

@skot yes it sounds like we have been through exactly the same. It has been horrible. I am having hormone tests done on Thursday. I had another scan done yesterday to see if anything further could be seen due to the pains on my left side still but nothing on the scan but they did see an ovarian cyst on my right ovary so they will keep an eye on that I just want to get back to normal now. Hi after some help found. Out I was pregnant on tbe 22nd June, started getting pains 3 days later, I went early pregnancy unit to have bloods and scan the couldn’t find baby at all in my womb, my hcg levels were 53 after two more blood test they went to 84 then 112 I’m not shure how long I am as I didn’t log anything after my misscaridge in February, I’m going for more bloods tomorrow and they said depending on those results they will decide what happens next, they ruled out eptopic, I’m not bleeding at all, yes could be early but I’m really struggling as to why no baby can be seen any advice please do you think I’ve lost my baby
