Safe to take pregnacare AND 5mg Folic acid?

Ive been prescribed 5mg folic acid from my recurrent miscarriage consultant. I'm wondering if its ok to take pregnacare with it as well?

I did, on advice from EPU, but best to check with your consultant if you're not sure.

It should be fine, pregnacare contains 400 ug so by taking both you will be taking 5.4 mg rather than 5 mg (less than 10% more than prescribed). Asking your pharmacist would be a good idea if you want to be sure.

It's fine, you'll just wee out any extra when it comes to folic acid. That's why it is ok to take high doses without knowing your exact levels. With something like vit D though it is possible to take too much so that has to be more considered. You might get bright yellow wee, don't worry if so!
