Early pregnancy symptoms - give me some perspective

Hi everyone, I really just want to have a bit of a moan if that's okay? I've read lots of cases where women have worse symptoms than I'm experiencing so I feel like a bit silly that this is affecting me so much.

I'm 6+3 with my first pregnancy. Ever since finding out at 3+5, I haven't had one decent night's sleep. I'm wakening to pee at least once every night and the nausea wakes me or I'll feel ravenously hungry and then I can't get back over, at best I'll kind of dose for a couple hours.

My nausea has ramped up too, it started off quite mild, its like I'm constantly hungover as a baseline but then also get awful waves where I'm close to throwing up but have only wretched so far. Most of the day I've no appetite, and when I do feel like eating, its limited to a few options of what I feel able to stomach. Then I'm constantly burping and getting wind pains for daring to eat. Not sure of cause but also getting constant pelvic pain low down which is annoying as he'll.

I've had a couple of dizzy episodes where I've been sitting down and everything around me has felt like it was tipping over?

Anyway, that's it so far. I think if I could just get my sleep back on track, I'd forgive the rest of it. I try to convince myself its reassuring to have these symptoms but at same time I'm shattered now and just want a decent night's sleep. I listen to sleep music, wear an eye mask and ear plugs as standard as I'm prone to insomnia anyway and usually that does the trick.

Does anyone have any tricks they can let me in on to help me cope?

Thanks in advance lovely people! X

The dizzyness could be low blood pressure make sure you are staying plenty hydrated especially if being sick, also try eating small amounts often ( easier said than done with nausea) with my first I would be sick when I hadn’t eaten.
The symptoms can suck, don’t compare yourself to other people your symptoms are perfectly valid. Just remember it doesn’t last forever, you’re halfway through your first trimester and the. Fingers crossed the symptoms will ease off for you

Thank you @Oneandabean, I never thought of it as being half way! In the bath now and keeping fingers crossed I get a good sleep tonight Smile

@MindfulMouse I am not pregnant yet as TTC. However I wake up to pee at least once or twice a night as a norm 🤣🤦god knows what I am going to be like pregnant 😅

MindfulMouse · 30/09/2020 08:23

@Trying4one when it was just to pee, I was normally able to sleepwalk there and back and it didn't disturb me too much although the past couple of nights I've had much less pain which has helped my sleep a lot! And I'm now keeping snacks on my bedside table to munch on when I wake up with hunger. Think I need to eat later in the evening too, its all trial and error I think!!!

@MindfulMouse pregnancy is a lot of unknowns isn't it and adapting as you go through. Sounds like you have a plan. Congratulations on your pregnancy. How long did it take you to conceive?

taraRoo · 30/09/2020 08:31

This is all very normal. I'm a bit ahead of you at 9 weeks with my 2nd. First trimester is rough. Like you all, there's limited options I can eat - mainly bread. I wake up on the dot at 3am to pee. I have night sweats. Fell sick 24/7. Yay!

Nothing really helps tbh. But I do recommend getting lots of sleep, staying hydrated and letting yourself eat whatever you can stomach ( even if that's a lunch of salt n vinegar crisps and toast). It just a case of slogging it out at this stage. My nausea has started to settle a bit now. Good luck.

I am in the exact same boat! 6+3 today and really struggling, my stomach keeps heaving but I'm not actually being sick. The nausea comes in waves, I cannot stop burping.
Being hungry hurts like hell and I can only manage tiny portions when I do eat.

I've found just constantly sipping fresh lemon and ginger in water helps. Snacking on Doritos throughout the day, not much else had made a difference.

Thank you @Trying4one, we've been trying since April/May time! It has been a bit of a rollercoaster for sure! Think I was blessed in that I don't really get too many period symptoms so have been a bit blindsided by all the symptoms so far! How long have you been TTC?

@MindfulMouse I was originally going to start trying in May but COVID scared us a bit. After talking to a nurse, she said now was as good a time as any. So we started trying last month, 2nd cycle and on 3dpo 🙈.
I generally don't get any symptoms on the lead up to my period either. I get pains for one day and that's it. I am kind of hoping I don't get morning sickness bad but knowing my luck I will 😂

Can’t offer any words of comfort but will sit here in solidarity as I’m in the same boat. 6+2 (although suspect I’m a bit further by ovulation date) and feeling rotten. Sleep is OK but I get the waves of nausea and also feeling hungry/can’t face anything/feel full after a few bites cycle.

I’m sitting in the car park outside work now retching and trying not to vomit. I will have to wear a mask inside and it makes the sickness worse.
Cold lemonade seems to help, ginger biscuits didn’t do much for me other than heartburn!

lucymagoo · 30/09/2020 09:31

I really feel for you going into work @mouldygrapes! I'm so glad to be able to work from home for the next few weeks I don't know how you do it

mouldygrapes · 30/09/2020 09:38

Thanks @lucymagoo. I’ve only been back for 3 days after 2 weeks off (during most of which I felt fine!).
I might have to tell my line manager early as I can do some of my work from home - not ideal this week as the bathroom is being re-done (should have been finished while we were away and very much not 😡).
I hope you feel OK today.
