I am 30+4 and for the last few weeks I have been getting really strong smelling discharge down below. I have started wearing panty liners as smell was very strong. I am showering every morning and bathing every night because I am really embarrased by it. Is this normal?

Rubbish Melting its very normal in pregnancy!

Having said that its worth getting it checked if you are concerned. If you have no other symptoms (soreness, pain, pain on urination) its very unlikely to be an infection. Scented liners may help, also don't actually use soap down there (affects natural pH balance), maybe try cleaning up regularly with sensitive baby wipes or medicated loo paper.

erm, extra discharge is normal, but not strong smelling.. could indicate an infection and must be checked out ASAP

any discharge that is bloody, smelly, or green must be checked out

Sorry to disagree again lulu but stonger than normal smelling discharge without other symptoms during pregnancy, especially late pregnancy is perfectly normal. But as I said, always worth getting it checked.

Lulumama · 10/10/2007 18:54

ok, but dismissing other comments as rubbish is not very kind. scented liners might cause irritation to the sensitive vulval area if it is already inflamed or sensitised, and being embarassed of the smell is enough to warrant going to the doctor, IMO .

hope bambino gets sorted.
