Morning sickness and work

So I’m really struggling with the thought of going to work with my nausea / sickness.

I have told my boss, but every time I’ve called in sick I’ve been made to feel guilty.

I also said I was coming back today but may not be 100%, and they were like well it’s a busy day, lots to do.

I’m not really sure how to approach this. Am I being over sensitive, or should they know I can’t be too full on due to my sickness?

Advice please :)

@Lgw20 my sympathies - it's crap feeling sick and having added pressure from work doesn't help!

Honestly I think only you will know what is reasonable - it depends on your job and how bad you're feeling. I know some women who have sailed through with no issues and others are hospitalised with HG and there's everything in between so it will be an individual experience.

I'm lucky that I can work from home so it's been relatively easy despite non-stop nausea for the last 6 weeks or so (everyone thinks my hayfever's been really bad this year and that's why I have a funny voice and red eyes, not that I've been chucking up 5 minutes before the team meeting!) I'm just doing what I can - I don't feel so bad that I can't work, but there are times in the day when I can't. I'm just being really clear about my boundaries and trying to get clarity on what my boss wants me to prioritise and do that well so if I can't do anything else that day at least they're covered.

I will say that if you've told your boss that you are pregnant they should be making allowances for that - because they are human, but also legally. Maybe you can have a chat to your boss about what you can do and what you can't and come to a compromise/different way of working that you can try for a week or so? It doesn't have to be set in stone - if it doesn't work try something else. Obviously I don't know what you do and it may not be that simple!
