Clearblue with weeks indicator. I'm 6 weeks but it keeps showing 2-3. Am I out?

Hi, I suppose I'm looking for reassurance but probably knowing deep down that all may not be well. I'm 6+1. Dates are definitely accurate. I had an early pregnancy scan on Tuesday and the sonographer said I was 5-6 weeks. I have another scan booked in for next Thursday. However. The Clearblue Digital tests with Weeks indicator just won't change from 2-3 to 3+ I've even opened up the test and I know the line isn't as dark as it should be at this point I'm feeling so sad and so anxious (I also came off Sertraline when I found out I was pregnant) Anyone else experienced anything similar? Thank you so much in advance.

It only registers the hCG levels. If your level is on the lower end of normal, it can put you further back than you are. Once you've got your positive test, anything else is just a gimmick, imo.

babysnowman · 26/09/2020 20:21

If I remember correctly, those tests indicate the weeks since conception. So depending on when in your cycle you ovulated it might not quite be at 3 weeks yet? I hope everything works out for you x

Bunnyears85 · 26/09/2020 20:25

You're absolutely right. You add on two weeks to what the CB test says. But I therefore should have got 3+ about a week ago. OV date definitely correct xx

@Bunnyears85 to be honest OP the tests aren't all that accurate. I've read loads on here about women never getting the 3+ or sometimes not even getting the 1-2 but still going on to have healthy babies.

I mean this in the nicest way possible, you need to step away from the tests. You've had an early scan and seen the baby and that everything is okay and know that you have another one booked to look forward to. Early pregnancy is an anxious time as it is, don't get yourself more anxious by overthinking tests. Stick to the scans, they'll be the most reassuring thing. And (easier said than done) but try not to worry, if you have severe pain or bleeding, contact your midwife or EPU but if not, enjoy your pregnancy and look forward to your upcoming scan!🥰

Sorry I meant not even getting the 2-3 not 1-2! X

Bunnyears85 · 26/09/2020 22:08

You're right, I know I need to step away. I should know better! I'm just in such an anxious state I keep thinking 'just one more, if I see a 3+ I'll feel so much better' Sonographer didn't see a baby on Tuesday, she said it was too early. I was sure I saw a HB at 6 weeks with my 2 DCs. Thursday can't come soon enough! Thank you so much for taking the time to reply

No, don't worry. They are notoriously unreliable. The threshold to show 3+ weeks is actually quite high, higher than the average at 5 weeks pregnant, plus the level of hCG actually present in your urine sample will vary with how dilute the urine is as well.

Also, you may have ovulated and/or implanted later than you thought, with absolutely no negative consequences at all.

I must say though I do wish they did beta blood tests in the UK, I had this in Germany and it was so nice to see that increase every time - really gives you a sense of confidence before a scan is any use!

angel2005 · 26/09/2020 22:53

Those tests are very unreliable.
I had a result of 2-3 weeks and when I went for a scan I was actually 27 weeks! (I'd had no symptoms, had actually lost weight and still had my monthly)

I don't believe it's anything to worry about as my gorgeous little surprise Lily was born in January completely healthy!

Bunnyears85 · 28/09/2020 06:33

What a lovely story. Praying I'm also going to have a happy outcome. So happy for you x

@Bunnyears85 in the nicest way possible there are no "CB how many weeks experts" out there. These tests are more of a first indicator of where you could possibly be when you test positive. They don't mean anything as first it's a urine test and second it doesn't actually measure any hormone dosage.
As people have said, you had a scan and seen a GS and know so far your pregnancy is progressing as it should. What happens next will not depend on whether the CB shows 3+ or not. Some people have repeat blood hcg doubling or tripling and still miscarry and some people never get to 3+ on those stupid tests and have healthy babies.
You pregnancy is 9 months of waiting and hoping for the best. Try to stay positive and not obsess over CB weeks and worse open up those tests!!! (I mean i didn't even know you could do that, and pretty sure it is not meant to be opened).

Bunnyears85 · 01/10/2020 11:43

Scan this evening. I'll let you know how it goes x

I never got the 3+ on any CB tests and I'm currently 24+2 with my first little girl after 3 boys so try not to worry ☺️

Bunnyears85 · 01/10/2020 16:26

I'm currently in A&E miscarrying. So devastated. For anyone looking at this post in the future. Sadly, for some, I'm so sorry to say that not moving to 3+ can mean that all is not well.

I am so sorry for your loss @Bunnyears85, I am that person today reading this in the future after 3 weeks of [2-3 weeks] tests, we have had a long road too with infertility and I am just desperate to know everything is going to be OK this time and google brought me here. If this test isn't a great indicator of that, I am going to choose not to worry and wait on my blood test results and scan next week. I know it may sound trite, but thank you so much for posting about this and the commenters have helped ease my anxiety somewhat today.
