Accidentally had Roquefort cheese

Accidentally ordered a starter for lunch (and ate it!!) that had Roquefort cheese in it (not cooked). I’m 28 weeks. Panicking now after googling after I’ve scoffed it. Do you think I’ll be okay?

You'll be fine. You would need a huge amount to be at any risk and even then, you would probably be fine.

You will be fine.

Try not to worry. The chances are you will be fine. Although it's a good idea to follow them wherever possible, the guidelines restricting foods eaten during pregnancy do tend to err on the side of caution.

I bet you pregnant women in France eat unpastuerised cheese all the time!

IIRC, it's only advised against because it has a slightly higher risk of food poisoning, not because it's inherently dangerous to the foetus - so if you haven't developed food poisoning, you're fine and even then I'm sure it's fine the vast majority of the time.

Thanks ladies - put my mind at rest. Googling sounded like out of everything, those cheeses were the worst thing to have. I’ve been (semi) good apart from haggis and sushi incidents (not together!!)

Craving everything that is banned too. Oysters, pate, raw fish, red wine (full bottle) 🍷

I recommend you read “Expecting better” Emily Oster. Enjoy your pregnancy!

Please don’t worry.
You’ll be fine Flowers

Sushi is ok if the fish was frozen beforehand
