I'm starting to think about trying for a second child. While I'm excited about the thought of having another dc I dread the thought of being pregnant again. Last time I was pretty much bedridden with nausea for almost 2 months and felt awful for the next 2 months. I can't imagine how I would cope with ds if I felt the same way again. So can anyone give me some hope that it might not be so bad again???

Would love to but... there are two things I found harder this time round: the nausea (was worse) and the worry re testing etc (no longer so naive and had another dc to think about). Having said that everything else has seemed much easier and alot less scary than last time as I knew what to expect, have been alot more proactive about getting help, found loads of ways to cope with the nausea (loads of threads on here) and with a happy and lively 3 yo to look after have had loads of distractions and a daily reminder of the little wonder thats the reward at the end of it all.
2 more weeks to go and I can't wait to be a mum of 2, well worth every minute of nausea

hi tryingtoleave. I am 39 weeks preg with my second. it has been different this time round - completely different symptoms (lots of leg cramps, really grumpy! ) but unlike my first I didn't have the pelvis and back problems I had first time. I think each pregnancy is different and you can;t predict what you baby/ body will throw (up) at you. So got for it! Even though I am SO fed up now and can't wait to get this lil one out, I know it's worth it in the end.. ... good luck.

With my 1st pregnancy I was sick several times a day from approx 6wks-16wks. I developed high blood-pressure which also meant extra monitoring and scans. There was also some concern about my sugar levels.

The 2nd time around was an absolute breeze in comparison. I still had nausea but not as much and was probably only sick once for the entire pregnancy. My BP was fine and I had no other health problems.

Thanks for your replies - there is a bit of hope there! Hope the rest of your pregnancies and births go well.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but this pregnancy has been a lot harder than the last - mainly because, with a 2-year-old to look after, I have been so much more tired. However I did have quite an easy first pregnancy so perhaps I was just lucky first time round. Plus it all passes and once you've got a newborn I am sure you'll forget about the pregnancy bit!

I found EVERYTHING easier second time round. Less nausea definitely. Was quite tired though both times. Birth MUCH easier.

Stop thinking abiut it and just do it!

I am 31 weeks with my second and i can honestly say its been far easier, despite having a 16 month old to look after.

With dd I had constant sickness for 20 weeks, then still had to be careful what i ate, this time i only had 2 weeks of feeling awful and a couple more of mild morning sickness.

First time i felt really heavy and uncomfortable, this time i mostly forget I am pregnant.

First time I couldn't sleep, with constant toilet trips, restless legs, cramp, hunger etc. This time I am up to the loo only once or twice, havent really suffered from restless legs or cramp and have had only a couple of nights where i have had to get up and eat.

I do still get tired, and have had mild sciatica and more heartburn than the first time, but overall i'm finding it far easier-here's hoping the birth is also easier!
