Did your labour start with period pains??

So I'm 40+6 and started getting intermittent period pains a couple of days ago....Didnt really think anything of it to be honest.

Last night they started to get a little more intense and noticable, but still not mega painful. I had a few bigger waves of pain at about 10pm but then fell asleep and slept straight through to 5am.

This morning the pain feels maybe stronger again, but still constant, not really big waves. Occasionally the pain radiates into my hips and back.

Could this be early labour? I'm kind of confused as to what's going on 🙈 I was expecting to know what a contraction felt like, but as a FTM I apparently dont 🙄

Yes, just like period pains

Chimchar · 26/09/2020 10:13

Mine all started with period type symptoms...not in my belly though... more in my cervix and pain down my thighs and lower back.

Sounds like you might well be getting ready! Good luck! Smile

Yes it did every time and I had three babies. First born at 33 and last one at 37. Long long labours with all of them too. Good luck. How exciting :)

Yes it did and then gradually got more intense. Tv and film make it look like you get a massive shot of pain when it starts but it isn't like that.
Good luck!

Sounds exactly like all 3 of my labours. Good luck OP xx

pinkrose78 · 26/09/2020 10:22

Yes, my 3 labours started exactly as you describe. Lots of pain in hips that became more intense. My waters never broke until at hospital.
Good luck.

Yeah just like period pains but a lot more intense

PopsicleHustler · 26/09/2020 16:20

Could be slow labour. I had that for 2 weeks solid with my last 2 babies, just before having them.

They were strong but I could breathe through them type period pains.
Could definitely tell the difference though between that and a contraction. As the contraction is the pain getting more and more intense, with your stomach going rock hard and the finally easing off. Youte 40 weeks so it could be your body getting you ready.
Did you experience a lot of Braxton hicks

Gerdticker · 26/09/2020 16:56

Yes - for about 7 days, every night

Then on the morning of my labour the same happened, and it took me about an hour before I realised they were actually contractions this time!

good luck :)

p.s i never had a show and waters didn't break until dc was born x
