Hello,

I was given cyclizine for morning sickness and after one tablet I felt like I had heart palpitations, dizzy, shortness of breath and so weak did anyone else have these side effects? I definitely do not want to take another one. It’s now been 14 hours since I took it and still feel the side effects.

I get that every time I have been given cyclizine intravenously (I think medically it is known as an extra pyramidal effect). It is hideous and frightening in equal measure, especially the weakness. I have however always been able to take it orally without problem but it sounds as if you might be especially sensitive to its effects. There are other meds you can try for severe morning sickness / hyperemesis so don’t let this experience put you off. Pregnancy Sickness Support (phone number google-able) is a wonderful source of advice and support, as is the long standing hyperemesis thread on mumsnet.

Hope you find something that works soon. I wouldn’t take another cyclizine if the effects of one oral dose have been so significant and lasting.
