When did I conceive? Please help:(

I'm really trying to work out when was the most likely date I conceived.

First day of last period - 15th august

I then had intercourse on the following dates:

23rd of august
31st august
1st September

I then got my first very faint positive test on the 8th September.

Does anyone know which date I had likely conceived?

I went for a scan and they was unable to measure me as there wasn't yet a baby. Only a sac and yolk sac. ( this was yesterday) I'm just so confused to how far along I possibly am now? X

More than likely around 1st September (can be 24-48 hours after intercourse remember) far too early for a scan. Relax, patience is required. Have a scan at the end of November

Sperm can survive for up to 7 days inside your body so it’s very difficult to say exactly when you conceived.

Could be either. It's too close to call.

I think prob not 1st Sept. But I reckon you ovulated somewhere in the window of the 26th - 30th Aug.

Not too late, because you need to be at least 10dpo normally to get a positive pregnancy test, even a very faint one. But not too early, or you'd be able to see more on a scan.

These dates would put you between 5w3d and 6 weeks exactly yesterday, which would match up with not seeing much on a scan. Err towards less far along ie the later ovulation dates (29th/30th)

But whether it would be sperm from the 23rd still hanging around, or the egg being there for 48 hours to meet sperm from the 31st - I don't know. It could have gone either way, both are quite unlikely.

Why does it matter?

I think any are possible, and as it's all within 10 days it falls within the normal variation of length of gestation, so will make no real difference to anything about your antenatal care. Due dates are only ever an approximation anyhow, so no important differences on that either

Very similar dates to me! Last period was 16th August and I got my faint positive on 7th September. I'm 80% sure I ovulated on 27/28th August if that's any help

I don’t think so, it’s more whether they should be able to see the foetus yet.

Fairly certain I ovulated 27-28th Aug.
Didn’t test until period was due - 12th Sept (I have 26-27 day cycles).
So by LMP I am 5+3 today.
I think it’s common not to be able to see anything on a scan until at least 6+ weeks. By LMP you’d be 5+5 I think?

Haha so funny how people just assume this and form an opinion of a simple question asking for advice. More concerned about the scan I had yesterday not the possibility of their being 2 dads. Only one possible dad to be!

thank you everyone:) just feeling little anxious I didn't see more than the sac and yolk sac if there is a possibility of me being further along. Very wanted little baby to be after lots of reoccurring losses xx

Based on your LMP you'd be 5+5. You're v likely to only see a sac and maybe yolk sac at that stage anyway so try not to worry. Foetus and HB not usually seen until 6.5-7.5 weeks x

Aaaaaaand breathe. I've had 15 miscarriages (13 before 6 weeks, 2 at 8 weeks) and I'm currently 12 weeks exactly with our sticky baby. I TOTALLY understand the anxiety, i really honestly do.

At my first scan (given due to previous losses when I should have been 6+5) there was nothing but a thickened womb lining and i thought yup, it's happening again. Turns out, I ovulated a whopping 10 days later than i thought because I went back a week later and there was a sac, yolk sac and teeny 3mm baby bean with the faintest little heartbeat. 2 weeks later, baby measured perfect for 8 weeks and had a cracking heartbeat and was even wriggling. I'ts now 4 weeks later and baby is practically a teenager from the scan pics

Things change and grow so quickly at that stage that even a scan being 24 hours early can be the difference between seeing a fetal pole and not. Are they rescanning you?
