Hi all. I'm 27+2 weeks pregnant and I had a growth scan yesterday. The obstetrician said baby is measuring small (mainly femur, which is 45.7mm) and estimated weight is 1lbs 15oz, so he is now sending me for weekly growth scans. I'm worrying and in a panic now. Has anyone else been through similar or going through this too.
Thankyou all in advance xx

@Stardust3484 I don't really have any knowledge but didn't want to read and run! It must be really hard to have been told that and not given any information to help you understand what it means. I would think the growth scans would be with fetal medicine doctor (not obstetrician) who should be able to answer any questions you have and who will hopefully be more reassuring.

I'm 13 weeks pregnant with twins and there are already concerns about the growth of one so I'm having growth scans every 2 weeks. So not really the same situation but I understand the worry.

My baby was measuring small with low Papp-a, I started off with scans every 4 weeks then his growth dipped significantly and was sent for growth scans every 2 weeks. I’ve just got back from a scan this morning and he’s absolutely fine!! He’s 5lb at 34 weeks and the sonographer said the really worrying scan when he appeared to have dipped was probably just him in between a growth spurt. Try not to worry too much hopefully your little one will fill out soon xx

Thankyou that is really reassuring. As I was hoping he was in between a growth spurt. Its just daunting hearing what you're being told. I think that are more concerned with his femur length (45.7mm). I just cried, I couldn't help it. I'm just hoping all will be ok xx

I’ve been having x4 weekly scans as had my first scan at 18wks so they say cannot accurately date even tho I was sure of my dates and they’ve matched with scans NHS and private.

At 20wks baby was on the small side but Sonographer said wasn’t concerned as I’m small built myself (partner is too). At 24wks baby had caught up a little but at 28wks was back to smaller. Consultant now wants scans every 2wks as if growth stops or slows they’ll induce.

Scans shown baby weighted 11oz at 20+3, 1lb8oz at 24+1 and 2lb5oz at 28+1wks.

They also did GTT and blood sugar levels before eating were 4.7 and after the glucose drink 9.3 which they say abnormal so currently monitoring bloods and got appointment with diabetes DR next week. They say if classes as me having diabetes then will induce as could mean baby grows too big (unlikely at moment lol) or placenta fails. I’ve spent days upset and worried about being induced and ending up with small baby or horrible birth but just trying to take it a day at a time now and just be grateful for baby kicking away.

They have said the same with me apart from sugar levels, which are all ok. My daughter was only 5lb 15oz when I was induced at 38weeks due to pre eclampsia. So I'm not expecting a big baby but this time I'm worried sick. I'm only 5ft myself. I'm just glad he is happily kicking away everyday.xx

@Stardust3484 I'm going through similar at the minute.

Got my 3rd growth scan next week.

1st scan at 28+5 she was estimated at 2lbs 3oz

2nd scan at 30+6 she was 2lbs 13 oz

Next scan is at 33 weeks...

Good that they're keeping an eye on the little ones and making sure they carry on growing! Let me know how you get on x

Hi, I just found your thread after going through something very similar (referred for weekly growth scans from 32 weeks after baby measured small but specifically the femur), I was just wondering if everything worked out with your pregnancy and did this affect you/your birth in any way? Just looking for reassurance. Thanks :)
