Overheating) sweating in early pregnancy

I have read that overheating in pregnancy, particularly early pregnancy, isn't recommended. Trying to stay away from Dr google but something about neural tube defects?
I am 9 weeks with what is hopefully DC2. I have woken up a few times in the last couple of week drenched in sweat from a too thick duvet. I usually get up drink water, kick it off and go back to bed. Nope I didn't do the logical thing and change to a lighter duvet.
I am waking up and cooling down which is good I think but obviously there is a period where I am hot and asleep. Is this the kind of thing that could cause harm in pregnancy?

No, that's a normal pregnancy symptom! They mean anything that actually raises your core body temperature so really hot baths, saunas, hot tubs etc

I had exactly these worries, but I think the sweating is your body taking measures to make sure the core temperature stays ok. The temperature on your skin etc doesn't matter. I was in the key time for neural tube formation (which is well before nine weeks) during that terrible heatwave. So yes, I am a bit worried but when I mentioned it at a scan they were very much 'stay away from google'!

Second everything everyone has already said. Totally normal and hormonal. The guidance is drawing concerns to having an actual fever and try potential impact this can have on foetal development (although this can be mitigated on the whole by paracetamol use.) Congrats on your pregnancy :)

I’m glad to be reading that I’m not alone in this - I’m 9 weeks now with #3 but I have just woken up drenched in sweat which I never experienced with my other two children. It’s good to see it can be a normal symptom tough.

I’m probably overly worrying because I had some spotting/brown discharge yesterday so have now fallen into a pattern of reading into every symptom. Hopefully I can encourage EPU to scan me soon - they just said some bleeding can be normal and to monitor.
