Car seat - help !

We don’t have a car but will be getting taxi home from hospital and possible car in near future. All fine but went to look at car seats in John Lewis today and sales assistant said she needs to know make and model of car before she can recommend a car seat as not all car seats are compatible with all cars? Of course I’ve no idea what kind of car I’ll be getting home in so what car seat do I buy? Are there ones any universal ones? Or one that fits most typical cars? Thanks!

I have no idea as we are yet to get our car seat too but honestly thought they were all universal, whenever I’ve looked online, I haven’t seen any car specific information. I know not a helpful response (sorry!) but watching to see if others can clarify.

Belted infant carriers go in most. Like the cybex aton, without the isofix.

Go for a maxi cosi pebble or cabriofix those are the two safest most universal ones and they belt into taxis easily

Assuming finances permit, get a Joie Juva one for £40. It'll easily seatbelt into the taxi and you can worry about possible future cars later.
