I’m 36 weeks pregnant and just accidentally swallowed some seeds from an apple. I hear they are poisonous. Will it harm baby?

No. They are unlikely to even be digested. The amount of cyanide they contain is very small even if you did digest them.

Runforyourlifeitsagherkin · 22/09/2020 22:57

Your baby will be absolutely fine.

LittleBearPad · 22/09/2020 22:58

People eat apple seeds all the time and don’t drop dead of cyanide poisoning.

baumwolle · 22/09/2020 22:59

If there were any real risk from this, apples would be on the list of NHS foods to avoid/limit - try not to worry about it.

Mummyboy2020 · 22/09/2020 23:00

I’m a first time mum and constant worried about all foods. I normally easily avoid seeds. Thank you, my baby already has a possible infection so I’m worried about everything now.

You would have to eat something like 500 apple seeds for it to have any effect on you.

Bahhh · 22/09/2020 23:12

Maybe the baby won't have a full head of hair but it might have a few leaves - Cute! Call it Apple like Gwyneth paltrow called her kid.

You'll be fine op. Congrats on your pregnancy

shellysheridan · 22/09/2020 23:23

I understand your concern but honestly you'll be fine. Try not to worry.

RubyAberdeen · 22/09/2020 23:35

What...really?

Bluntness100 · 22/09/2020 23:37

You would need to eat hundreds if not thousands to have any risk..

Laanie · 23/09/2020 09:41

You'll get an apple tree growing in your belly.. Better go to a&e.

Kanaloa · 23/09/2020 09:47

I think this will be absolutely fine. When I was a kid I used to eat all of an apple - seeds, core, everything. I did that for about 10 years and it never had any consequences.

Mybobowler · 23/09/2020 09:48

Oh god I eat apple seeds all the time (and almost definitely did when pregnant) - I had no idea they were anything to worry about. So if I'm anything to by OP, I think you'll be fine.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/09/2020 09:53

An apple tree will grow in your tummy.

@Mummyboy2020 my advice to you is if you are worrying this much, you need to stick to one to two sources of where you get your advice and facts from.

Use the NHS website as guidance.
Not sure who has worried you about apple seeds but you really don’t need to.

Mummyboy2020 · 23/09/2020 12:32

Thank you everyone. Google had me worried. Gotta stop looking on there🤦🏽‍♀️

@Chocolateforlunch

I did try to check nhs website but it wouldn’t load.

@Mummyboy2020 😊 google is not your friend. Anyone can post a study about anything online, and a lot of it is negative 😊

Only saying that as I love a bit of google research myself haha, but I read and read and then just stick to the NHS website 😊

DragonPie · 23/09/2020 13:07

OMG you are going to get an apple tree growing out your ears! That’s what my Grandma used to tell me so it must’ve true.
