Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone else is in a similar situation.
I'm epileptic, though its well controlled and havent had a seizure for a good number of years now.
I'm on Keppra however I do get the wonderful side effects including horrible anxiety and sleep terrors.
I'm taking 5mg folic acid and also have my first appointment for 3 weeks time with the Epilepsy Nurse who runs the pregnancy unit.
Anyone else with epilepsy whose also pregnant? X

I am! Due in March and also on Keppra & folic acid. And have a Consultant appt in early November to discuss everything (you'll probably be referred at your 1st midwife appt) Apart from that everything seems to be the same I think! X

Congrats both!

I'm considering ttc but really nervous about the seizure control side of things. How are you both doing on that front?

Hope you dont mind me asking on this thread OP?

This is my third baby (fifth pregnancy) and I am epileptic - but also under control. Luckily it hasn't impacted my last pregnancies and I've had a couple of extra heart scans each time.

@RaspberryHartleys I still have the odd absence seizure, but I haven't had a grand mal seizure in years. If they start again once the baby is born I imagine the dr would review my meds.

@Charlotte2020 congrats!! Thata fab x Yeah I have my first appointment on 21st October, by pure chance same day as my first midwife appointment 🤞

@RaspberryHartleys of course no problem! My seizures have been well controlled, I've been seizure free for about 7 years now. The main thing they looked when I was TTC was the risk of certain medications but I was told the risk on keppra is very low. I just take the 5mg of folic acid instead and they'll keep my medication under review as the pregnancy progresses in case they need to increase the dose slightly xx

@LittleBrownBaby thats really reassuring! Its the anxiety and sleep terrors are more what I'm struggling with atm but just keeping fingers crossed I'll stay seizure free as well! X
