Bleeding in first trimester

Hi Everyone, I wanted to start this thread because I have recently tested positive (2 - 3weeks) however I have had red bleeding for the past 6 days. I haven’t had any other symptoms like cramping but I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Is this a miscarriage?

Hi i has this from about 5 weeks to approximately 14 weeks pregnant and it was actually a cervical polyp causing the bleeding. Think all the hormones caused it to bleed but it dropped off at about 14 weeks and no problems since

Intrigued2020 · 20/09/2020 13:06

@bc2992 really! That’s really interesting as I had a smear 2 years ago and they told me I had a cervical polyp. It’s never caused me any issues before but maybe because I’m now pregnant it’s causing it to bleed! It has worried me to be honest because obviously bleeding in pregnancy doesn’t sound like a good thing but hopefully I will be okay! xx

I had bright red bleeding, no real clots or cramping from week 8 to week 12. I'm now week 30. Baby was fine though I thought I was having a miscarriage due to previous experience/infertility. Turned out there was some clots in my lining under the baby.

It's scary and mentally I found it challenging, but baby was fine throughout it. Have you had a booking in appointment yet? I would mention it to the midwife or your GP. I was told it is suprisingly common.

bc2992 · 20/09/2020 13:21

Exactly the same as me. My first smear test I was referred to hospital for the polyp but cause it wasn't anything sinister they left it.
I ended up at the early pregnancy unit for 2 scans before they worked out what it was But like you no cramping or anything. Definitely mention it to the doctors to see if they can check, or refer you for a scan to check everything's ok so far

Intrigued2020 · 20/09/2020 13:51

Thank you so much for your comments and I am happy that everything has gone well for you both :) @Pinktruffle - sorry to hear about your miscarriage. It is all so confusing! I think I will ring the GP on Monday to book an appointment just to see if everything is okay! hopefully it will be 😁 xx

Thank you. My current pregnancy has helped me heal a bit. Hopefully everything will be fine for you, try not to worry too much. Lack of cramping is a good sign.

Intrigued2020 · 20/09/2020 14:11

Ooo yeah I’m sure! I guess you are never 100% sure until you have your baby in your arms 😘 wishing you all the best and I will update you after I have seen the GP 👌

Just wanted to send reassurance and a virtual hug . I've delivered 6 healthy children and bled in the 1st trimester with 3 of the pregnancies. No obvious reason for any of the bleeds and very scary each time. Had mobile scans and monitoring in hospital but each time it stopped itself and the pregnancy continued as normal. Good luck.x

Intrigued2020 · 21/09/2020 15:48

@user1468105798 - Thank you for sharing your experience! It’s so reassuring to hear from other people that have experienced this! It is really worrying seeing the blood and it’s annoying that I need to wait for a few weeks to see what happens 😫 hopefully everything will be okay though! 😘 wishing you all the best xx

Have you considered contacting your EPU?

CrazyFooLady · 21/09/2020 22:36

Hi.
Unfortunately I'm experiencing some very heavy bleeding, almost period like with mucus.
Also cramping a fair bit, just not too sure if I'm passing clots as a lot of it is falling into the loo as soon as I sit down.... sorry for TMI.
I'm guessing this is probably game over for me, I've got a scan booked for tomorrow, just hoping by some miracle it will be ok.... I'm 9 weeks today x

Intrigued2020 · 22/09/2020 06:10

@ShalomToYouJackie - I have called the GP but they said there is nothing they can do until I get to 6 weeks 😫 @CrazyFooLady - Oh no I’m sorry to hear that! Hopefully it will be okay, please let me know how your scan goes, wishing you good luck xx

@Intrigued2020 I will definitely let u know as soon as I get out.
Last night was awful but I'm still clutching at straws that something weird is going on in there and everything is ok x

Intrigued2020 · 22/09/2020 06:49

@CrazyFooLady aww I really feel for you! You don’t know though until you know for sure 😘😘 xx

I’m pregnant now and having spotting & some red bleeding. I also had the same with my daughter, if you’re concerned call EPU but I’ve just accepted this is what happens to me when I’m pregnant.

Intrigued2020 · 22/09/2020 09:08

@Babamamasheep - thanks for sharing! I feel that a lot of people have said this now so that’s really putting my mind at rest! It seems slightly better today so I’m hoping that it’s going to stop now but we shall see. I’m going on a work trip this week so hopefully it takes my mind off it and then I’m going to take another test on the weekend just to see how it looks :) Can I ask how far along you are? xx

Babamamasheep · 22/09/2020 09:26

@Intrigued2020I’m 6 weeks now but bled until around 4/5 months with my 1st.

Intrigued2020 · 22/09/2020 11:21

@Babamamasheep - ahh okay! That’s good to know! Hopefully I can get booked in soon and they can check on everything! Good luck with everything 😘
