Scented condoms when pregnant?

Hi all! I'm currently 18+5 weeks pregnant and was wondering if using scented condoms were safe to use through intercourse when pregnant?

I had thrush about 3 weeks ago and me and my partner decided to have sex. The only condoms we had were scented and I thought nothing of it and used it.

I'm a bit worried after reading online that it can make yeast infections worse and they're full of sugar.

Will this affect the baby?

Thanks Grin

Scented condoms?! Shock

Thrush won’t hurt your baby. Get it treated and buy some normal johnnies!

Doyoumind · 19/09/2020 17:11

Fuck scented condoms at any point. Nothing scented belongs up there.

Your baby is safe. Your vaj not so much.

funnyrubberducky · 19/09/2020 17:13

They're flavoured condoms so I never thought anything of it.

Before we were trying for a baby and before that I was on the pill so never needed to know all this stuff about condoms Confused

I'm just a big worrier anyway haha! This is first baby too

What are they scented with, fish and chips? Wink

Biancadelrioisback · 19/09/2020 17:15

I secretly love the smell of flavoured condoms Grin

SoManyActivities · 19/09/2020 17:15

Ew, scented condoms?! Gross.

Just go and buy some normal ones!

Fruitloops34 · 19/09/2020 17:16

I’m a bit confused, if you are pregnant, why the need for johnnies? Grin

BiByeBaby · 19/09/2020 17:17

May be a stupid question. But if you are in a committed relationship, which I guess you are as you are having a baby. Then why the need for condoms anyway?

peachypetite · 19/09/2020 17:17

Hahaha it’s a bit late for a condom. I’d avoid scented.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 19/09/2020 17:18

Why are you using condoms? You can't get more pregnant! And I assume as you were happy to have unprotected sex to get pregnant he shouldn't have an std

thetangleteaser · 19/09/2020 17:18

I may be being silly, but is it because of the thrush you’re using the condoms. As if you’re in a committed relationship and you already are pregnant then possibly you don’t need to use them🤷🏼‍♀️

Feel free not to answer btw as you may have private reason you wish to use them, just thought I’d say just incase you hadn’t thought about it☺️

IHateCoronavirus · 19/09/2020 17:18

I’m sure baby will be fine tucked away surrounded by amniotic fluid and membranes.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 19/09/2020 17:18

No no no!!! Nothing flavoured or scented should make its up there!

Baby will be fine though.

Doyoumind · 19/09/2020 17:18

Flavoured and scented and two different things though.

funnyrubberducky · 19/09/2020 17:22

Me and my partner have been together a long time and in a happy commited relationship.

I use condoms because as I mentioned in the op that I had thrush a few weeks ago so I've been using condoms that the doctor gave me ages ago.

I don’t understand why having thrush means you need condoms. If it has been treated then you won’t pass it to your partner. Scented condoms will make thrush worse.

roarfeckingroarr · 19/09/2020 17:40

If you're already pregnant, why bother using condoms?

PotteringAlong · 19/09/2020 17:42

I’m with everyone else, there is no need to use condoms if you’re pregnant. And if you’ve got thrush then scented condoms are definitely not helping.

CatsFantastic · 19/09/2020 17:47

Ditch the condoms OP. I seem to catch thrush from everything - tights, skinny jeans, scented anything so I feel your pain! Wait until your thrush has cleared up until having sex again.

And ... congratulations! Flowers

gamerchick · 19/09/2020 17:50

I'm assuming the OP used condoms so as not to give thrush to her bloke? It should be 1+1 there.

Just wait until your thrush has cleared up before having sex again.

WhoWouldHaveThoughtThat · 19/09/2020 17:50

You'll probably be OK as long as they are not the jalapeño ones. 🌶️ 🥵

funnyrubberducky · 19/09/2020 18:16

Haha! Thank you everyone for your help!

I have researched the ones I used online and it says they're for vaginal use also so I'm feeling relieved.

I'm still using my thrush cream and yeah, I'm using condoms to not give thrush to my partner Smile

@funnyrubberducky i would just not have sex until thrush is resolved.
Also flavoured condoms are probably safe for vagina but like many other things are. However in a sensitive pregnant thrush vagina i would avoid a scented condom or a scented soap or a flavoured lubricant or anything like that. It will definitely not help.
Sex will cause more inflammation as well so honestly just give it a rest for a week!!
And ditch the flavoured condoms 😁

funnyrubberducky · 19/09/2020 18:31

@SunnySideUp2020 I've only had sex with my partner twice since being pregnant lol. It's not something we do very often at all. I've had no symptoms of thrush for over a week or so but thought better be safe than sorry and wear a condom anyway.

Will not be doing that again lol
