I've got a stinking cold thanks to my wonderful daughter. What else can I take other than paracetamol? Any recommendations of what I can have to try and get rid of the bunged up congestion feeling for a bit? I'm 31 weeks pregnant so not sure if that makes a difference to what I can take. Thanks

Paracetamol is the only thing you can take I'm afraid. You can use a saline rinse if your nose is blocked at all but other than that nothing. Hopefully it won't last too long x

Olbas oil is good, honey and lemon in hot water, otherwise it’s just suffer through unfortunately

The nose breathe right strips 👌🏻

Just rest and watch that it doesn't turn into a chest infection

I feel your pain OP. I am just getting to the end of a horrible cold and haven’t been able to take anything. Olbas oil is not recommended during pregnancy and that’s what I’d normally use.

Have you got a facial steamer? You could use that. Or let your bathroom steam up and stand in there for a while.

I had a cold last week also at 31 weeks. It sucks.

Paracetamol, sitting in a steamy bathroom and lots of honey in my tea helped me a bit. Also had boiled sweets and soothers as I had a horrid cough which freaking hurt and completely destroyed my pelvic floor. My pelvic floor is finally trustworthy again but I still have a pulled muscle in my back from coughing which is no fun either!

Thankfully I got tested before I started to feel really rubbish (caught cold from DS who had horrendous cough and high temperature along with being off his food so needed to be tested, we were negative) so was able to stay home and mope through the worst of it.

I always go for olbas oil, lemon green tea, and paracetamol. You cant take much else unfortunately. Just try keep hydrated, use vaseline on your nose, and ride it out. It's always nasty when pregnant.

I had a stonker of a cold at 34 weeks, drink hot lemon and honey like it's going out of fashion and plenty of water. Hope you feel better soon! X

Thanks everyone. Feel much better today. Dosed up on paracetamol and downing warm drinks to help. Just the chesty cough to go now but I can actually function at least today.
