Phantom kicks? Surely not pregnant?

Not sure if this is the right place for this post but...

For 5 or 6 days now I have been feeling what feels exactly like baby kicks! Right In my lower stomach and always on the right hand side, more so when I am sat down. It's driving me crazy!!!

I don't think I can possibly be pregnant as I have no other symptoms and have been having regular periods although regular periods are odd for me as I am 26 years old and up until 3 months ago I had never had a normal cycle (usually anything between 30-45 days) and now suddenly they're 29 days?

I was going to do a test just to put my mind at rest but I have read quite a lot about tests coming back negative after so far along?

Has anyone experienced phantom kicks or have any other opinions on this?

A test will still be positive regardless of how far along you are.

calimommy · 19/09/2020 15:31

To add, I often get what feel like kicks or movement but it's bowel related.

aceyace · 19/09/2020 15:34

I had some last month just before my period, I did a cheap test as well as they were very convincingSmile

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 19/09/2020 15:37

I get this but I'm 45 and haven't even sat next to a man for 2 years ! It's often my bowels that are to blame .
However I remember someone on here having this and she was very pregnant it turned out!

Do a test and come back and tell Mumsnet the result

DaughterX · 19/09/2020 18:02

Your stomach is far higher up than your womb, so it's very unlikely!

Sexnotgender · 19/09/2020 18:04

Have you had unprotected sex at all? Or any sex!

Lugubelenus · 19/09/2020 18:37

If it's just right sided, it's probably bowel related rather than a surprise pregnancy. As you have no other symptoms, I would suggest a telephone consultation with your GP. It could be a number of things, including inflammatory bowel disease.

You can get negative tests further along in pregnancy. Can't remember what it's call but if you dilute your wee when pregnant it should then give a positive.
Do a test and let us know.

This seems to have happened to about 100 other mumsnetters recently so you could read one of those threads to see what people suggested then. It’s weird as I’ve never once come across it in real life but there you go

YoBeaches · 19/09/2020 20:12

Well it's highly unlikely. But the only way to find out is to do a test. You would usually need to be 4/5 months plus pregnant to be feeling kicks as regularly as that...and generally they don't start like kicks as baby isn't that big, it's a flutter or a squiggle in your tummy.

Could be your appendix. Could be fibroids. Could be your bowels, or a uti issue. Could be a whole range of things.

sarahc336 · 19/09/2020 20:55

I think if you were feeling actual kicks you'd have a bump by now, plus a test would still show positive if you were pregnant now x

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 19/09/2020 20:58

To prove a point on a previous thread, I took a pregnancy test. I was 38 weeks at the time and it came up very positive.

I would say it’s unlikely but take a test to put your mind at rest.

Grumpy19 · 19/09/2020 21:37

Just to respond to the test issue. I took at pregnancy test at 17 weeks knowing full well I was pregnant (just had a scan- was clearing out bathroom cabinet) and it was negative.
