Hi! So I’m currently 27 weeks pregnant and I had GD in my last pregnancy (Only tested me at 32 weeks roughly even though I was complaining about passing out and having other symptoms) and have the symptoms of it again this time round but just waiting on test results. Is having it in a second pregnancy any different?

My last they never spoke about inducing me and She weighed 8 and a half pounds at 36 weeks and born at 40+6 at 9lbs 15oz! She got stuck because she was too big and I was forced to have an emergency c section as wouldn’t dilate passed 7cm and it had been hours but she was so heavy I think she damaged my pelvis as it just wouldn’t open any further for her birth. Now I’m still having pains in it and I’m scared if my current pregnancy is a big boy. Will I be left as long to go into labour as I don’t think I will be able to cope with that amount of pain again x

Could you speak to someone about an elective c section? Especially if you have had one previously

Have you had the GTT this time? If not ask your midwife and ask fir a referral to the diabetes DR. I’m 28wks and was told to have GTT as only had my first scan at 18wks so even though I am sure of dates they say need to monitor just incase.

My baby fits dates but on the smaller side (myself and partner are smaller tho) but 2nd part of GTT cake back abnormal so have to monitor bloods 4 times a day and go to diabetes DR in 2wks who will decide if it’s gestational diabetes or just my body not reacting to high level of glucose after the glucose drink, other levels so far been normal.

I was told if gestational diabetes they will want to induce early as placenta might fail. Given that you’ve had problems delivering a larger baby previously I would push for a planned section based on that. But I would ask to speak to diabetes specialist for peace of mind.

If you had it was last Baby was you not offered the test early this time?

I found out at 28 weeks with DD, this time I was told I need to be tested at 16 weeks and 28 weeks. They told me this straight away at booking in appointment Confused I'm only 13 weeks atm.

I had DD at 38 weeks 8lb 10oz by Csection as they was very worried she'd get stuck, I'm only 5ft and DP is 6ft 6" haha. But I ended up on insulin aswel. I don't even want to think what size she would have been if I waited another month haha
